First day of our latest project, a 2 bay oak carport with garage and log store, time to start digging....
Just finished today, the metalwork all done in house finished off with oak seat bases, backs and a solid 2 inch thick table top....
Another little project finished a few weeks ago: a solid oak front door with glazed side panels...
From a pile of oak into a beautiful, bespoke porch accompanied with a stone dwarf wall and dressed (Locally quarried) stone cappings.
Thank you to Peak Oak for supplying the oak.
From an old, leaky outbuilding to a stunning wet room, fitted with underfloor heating, rainfall shower and a hand crafted oak washbasin stand.
Today's office ☀️
Another beautiful building, last years live build project in which students from the The Prince's Foundation helped to create.. Really well done guys and girls.
If you'd like the chance to create beautiful buildings like this, why not get involved with our apprenticeships? http://www.princes-foundation.org/content/young-heritage-apprenticeship
We spy our very own Mr Clowes mentoring at last years summer school there. Imparting his knowledge and skills to the next generation of craftspeople.
A fabulous opportunity to take part and learn a traditional building craft with The Prince's Foundation.
Are you thinking about exploring a career in traditional building crafts? Why not take a look at our Young Heritage Apprenticeship? We're now taking applications for this year! Find out more: http://www.princes-foundation.org/content/young-heritage-apprenticeship
The fleet has been cleaned ready for 2016!
We would like to thank all our customers for the amazing projects undertaken during 2015, and wish everyone a very merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!
Two of our chaps, Steven and Sean, are up in Scotland at Dumfries House once again, doing their bit for The Prince's Foundation live build 2015. This year we're mentoring the heritage craft students, teaching them the arts of timber framing, joinery and stonemasonry.
Steve completed the course many moons ago and is back for his second successive year mentoring, imparting his knowledge and expertise to future craftspeople!
Now THAT'S what we call a log store! It's certainly not going to blow over or shift about no matter how feisty the Peak District winds are!
A recent commission, featuring a neat basket weave effect around the lower half.
It started as a simple flagstone floor with under floor heating installation.... and grew into a whole room, stairs and landing refurb! But what a wise choice, it's going to look stunning when it's all complete.
Our latest project a bathroom renovation, you'll have to wait for the after picture!
Oak window seats for one of our clients
We spy our very own Mr O'Sullivan in the middle there.... good work Sean :)
From humble (and rather muddy!) beginnings, to blissful 5* luxury.
Scandinavian style wood burning hot tub installation and spa area with bespoke oak framed summer house.
A big "Happy Birthday" today to the boss.... (well one of them anyway!) :)
Internal oak framing on a Sunday afternoon!
Steffan's finished that wall, didn't he do a good job! He's been having a go at some stone shaping work... I think he's almost smiling under that dust mask... almost! ;)
We're very pleased to have Steffan Lomax with us on placement for the next month from The Prince's Foundation whilst he works towards gaining his NVQ. Lending his hand to pointing up an internal stone wall on pre 16C stone barn conversion. Nice work!
(He's a tad camera shy... Smile Steffan! :D )
The RHBC joint Christmas meal and fond farewell, as Andy has completed his work placement with us as part of his Princes Foundation course.
It's been a pleasure Mr Bolton, we hope we see you again soon!
Sneak peek at the inside of this year's Live Build...
Don't recognise any of the legs in this photo, but the quality of workmanship is familiar.... Students being mentored by Darren and Steve on the Live Build stage of the Building Skills programme by The Princes Foundation at Dumfries House. Looking great, fabulous work all!

Former student comes back to teach | The Prince's Foundation for Building Community Steven Clowes is a passionate carpenter who graduated from our Building Skill in Craft programme in 2012. Since then he has started his own company, Ringehay Heritage Building, specialising in the use of heritage skills for both conservation and new build.
Just came across some of our handy work in the July/August 2014 'Leek Life' supplement! Ringehay Heritage Building Co. provided the oak beams and trusses for this fab spa extension :)
This years Building Craft Apprentices will be mentored by our very own craftsmen Steve and Darren during the summer school at Dumfries House Estate, in Scotland! During the summer school in July they will be helping the Princes Foundation students design a structure which will be built on the estate using traditional crafts...Steve and Darren are both very excited to meet the 2014 apprentices :) Check out this link featuring the 2012 group to get an idea of what it's all about!
