I'm back guys...
Sorry I have been so quiet over this 3rd lockdown, it has been a tough year mentally, emotionally and physically for many of us and that has included me!
For some reason this lockdown really knocked me for six, due to the uncertainty of work or when I could go back to work. This made me question everything I was doing! From starting my own business to even my chosen career path. I was thinking I can't afford to have this wobble now as I have bills to pay. So out I went and got myself a warehouse job just to put my mind at rest that I could at least pay my bills. However, the reality wasn't great, yes it paid the bills but I wasn't happy and I found myself slowly closing off to people I loved. Finally, I broke and opened up and started to speak of how I felt.
I had no idea that I had fallen into depression! But thankfully having the the right people around me and talking made me realise everything will be ok and this will soon be over.... And here it is!
Finally we can open our doors and I can get back to what I enjoy.
Looking forward to seeing all you broken people and getting you fixed again.

Home Visits Available Monday, Thursday and Fridays

Its coming to that time of year again when we all start focusing on making sure our homes and cars are ready and in perfect working order for the cold days ahead.
Its time to be honest.... If we give our homes and cars the attention they need, why don't we look after our bodies in the same way?

Your body is a very complex machine that enables us to do anything we ask or want it to do. Not looking after the body in the same way can cause potential injuries, aches and pains.
So why not give your body the same maintenance and get yourself booked in for a treatment and give your body the TLC it needs.

If you would like a treatment get in touch below www.simprisportstherapy.co.uk or leave a message

Many people suffer from shoulder issues and lower back pain but their could be other postural issues that need to be considered which are causing you to have such pain and lack of shoulder flexion.

Training with an injury?
Injuries can happen to any of us. We push and train our bodies to their limits, when we start to encounter little aches and pains which develop into injuries when we don't take the correct precautions. We decide we know better and carry on training thinking if we work through it we will be fine. But do we ask ourselves what will the consequences be by working through it?!
It's important to remember that we can train through some pain but we can't train through an injury especially if it is serious.
If you do have an injury get a professional to take a look before it turns into a more serious and chronic problem.

Rest - If you experience swelling around the injury this is a sign that tissue damage has been caused. Swelling itself can cause pain and loss of motion. Rest is always an essential part for aiding recovery. Use the new modified method P.O.L.I.C.E or alternatively R.I.C.E

Alternative Training - Train energy systems if surrounding areas are too painful. Try high intensity interval training this helps increase the red blood cell count and oxygen.

Train Surrounding Areas - This is your chance to get creative if the injury is acute, train around that part of the body. Strengthen the surrounding muscles as this will help with stability and any imbalances.

Modify Training - Change the biomechanics of the exercise to change demands, so that you do not aggravate the injury. Always choose variations that won't cause discomfort.

Load and Volume Management - If you want to train through an injury you must lower the load/weight and increase the reps. Use an intensity or volume that can be performed without flaring up symptoms. If done in the early stages of the injury, can accelerate the healing process by getting the muscles moving.

Change in Tempo / Time Under Tension - Load tissues with lighter intensity. Isometric contractions.

Update.... Nearly there now

As you may have heard the announcement yesterday we are looking at re-opening very soon. Our governing body the Sports Therapy Organisation are running through the legalities to ensure we don't have a situation like Scotland were the rug is swept away from us.

Fingers crossed it will be the green light officially for Monday 13th July. I will keep you posted with further updates.

Hope to see you soon...

A little update on the current situation. The Sports Therapy Organisation confirmed that Sports Therapists / Rehabilitators are able to conduct 1-2-1 exercise therapy outside with social distancing of course, and able to perform face to face consultations if urgent with virtual appointments essential before to justify the such appointment.

Its extremely disappointing that we are still unable to provide sports massage treatments after having such high hopes after the hair dressing industry was given the all clear for this week.

Although, Northern Ireland have been given the green light to start this week which included sports massage, obviously under strict hygiene and PPE rules.

So fingers crossed that we will be up running soon to fix all those broken bodies.
If you would like to get first priority visit my website www.simprisportstherapy.co.uk and leave me a message and I will get back to you to arrange dates as soon as the guidelines change.

Trust me when I say I have been here many of times...

Whether its been losing the will power to train, feeling out of your depth with everything that's going on around you, losing your way as your normal routine has collapsed due to being furloughed or even starting a new business in the middle of a pandemic!!

Just remember your mental health and wellbeing is the most important part of this journey. I know many people use the gym or training as an outlet for releasing our anxieties or even to help us socialise in a community that understands our needs. So having these facilities closed and those relationships becoming distant has been a really difficult time.
But note your not alone... We are all facing some sort of demons in these unprecedented times.

Step back and remind yourself as to why you started your journey in the first place...
It maybe to have a healthier and better lifestyle!
Have a better career or for self development and personal growth!
To be able to keep up with the kids or even grandkids!

Whatever the reason don't give up, pick yourself up and BELIEVE you will succeed...
STAY POSITIVE and block out the negative

Working from home during lockdown has it got you feeling aargh with neck, shoulder and lower back pain?

I sure do …. I found myself sat on the couch laptop on lap or sat at a desk in the study for hours then wondering why I had a stiff neck and shoulders....
Looking at my ergonomics / posture it was quite easy to find out why I had all these pains.

Having the laptop on the lap or being sat at a low desk your head is dropped, causing muscle tension in the back, neck, shoulders and chest. Sat at a desk that is too high and the hands are higher than the elbows causing fatigue in the shoulders and neck and arms.
Being in these positions over long periods of time is going to increase the risk of injury.
The main reason for pain is the lack of movement.

So here are some simple tips for having a good home working setup....
Try to ensure hips, knees and elbows are between 90 to 120 degrees
The screen is at eye height arms length away, use a book or folder to raise the screen, the same can be applied for a laptop to tilt the keyboard.

Having the right posture is great but remember to move, this helps to give the eyes a rest from staring at a screen.
Have a little walk, grab a coffee or tea.

The biggest tip to reduce discomfort for postural changes is to make big movements that change the position of the entire body.
Give me shout on my website www.simprisportstherapy.co.uk alternatively you can leave a message.

Who am I?

Now that's a good question….
I'm a qualified Sports Therapist (HND), Strength and Conditioning Coach (BSc Hons) and Reps accredited level 3 personal trainer.

However, I never started out in this career. I wanted to be the first british asian woman football player or 100m track athlete but ended up in electronics and then security!
So how did I get here ???
With a lot of soul searching, determination and knowing I wanted to help people.

If I couldn't be the athlete then why not help those who want to be.
So here I am …..

I have been very fortunate in my career to date, to have worked with pro, semi-pro and amatuer athletes from footballers to MMA fighters, powerlifters to marathon runners and I've loved every minute of it and look forward to helping many more of you.

If you're looking for some training advice or rehabilitation guidance please drop me a message on my website www.simprisportstherapy.co.uk and I’ll get back to you via email or give you a call.
