Meet tutors Tuesday (albeit a day late) features Dr Greg Solan. Greg has taught and carried out research in inorganic, catalysis and organometallic chemistry at Leicester since 1999. Outside of work he is a part-time drummer in a band and an avid Spurs fan!
For this week’s meet the tutors Tuesday we have Dr Alexander (Sandy) Kilpatrick. Sandy is a lecturer in inorganic chemistry and is researching ways to utilise greenhouse gases. When not in the lab, Sandy plays bass and enjoys cycling in the majestic Midlands.
Congratulations to Dr Fabrizio Ortu who is part of the Molecular Magnetism Team recognised with the 2021 RSC Dalton Division Horizon Prize. The Prize was awarded for carrying out cutting edge research in the field of molecular magnetism, as part of “A multinational team of synthetic, spectroscopic, magnetism, and computational researchers all working to a unified goal: generating and understanding ground-breaking paramagnetic molecules with novel potential applications.” Fabs contributed to this Award by studying Electron Paramagnetic Resonance spectroscopy applied to actinide chemistry (Nature Chemistry, 2017, 9, 578), and high temperature single molecule magnets (Nature, 2017, 95, 7).
For this week’s meet the tutors Tuesday we have Professor Sergey Piletsky. Sergey is Research Director for the School of Chemistry. He also leads Biotechnology Group and teaches Analytical Chemistry to 1st year students. Outside of work he picks mushrooms, plays computer games and enjoys reading fantasy.

For this week's meet the tutors Tuesday we have Dr Dylan Williams. Dylan is Associate Professor of Chemistry and the school’s Director of Learning and Teaching. In his spare time Dylan enjoys travelling to new places and watching football.

This week we have Dr James Hodgkinson for meet the tutors Tuesday. James is the school’s deputy admissions tutor and teaches organic and pharmaceutical chemistry topics. He also carries out research in organic synthesis and chemical biology
This week’s tutor for meet the tutors Tuesday is Dr Alex Pulis - Alex is a lecturer in organic chemistry and is researching new ways to make molecules. When not in the lab, Alex can be found running in Leicestershire’s beautiful countryside.
