📢 Final (really and hopefully) Reminder to all student group committees:
😄All committee members must complete the general quiz based on the five compulsory modules by 31st August 2023, especially if your group is planning to participate in Freshers or organise any event in September.
✨All of these can be found on our Committee training page.
Committees that have all members completed their training and documents before 1st September are eligible to participate in Freshers Fair (27th- 28th September).

Welcome back to all of you! We are very pleased to announce that Re-Freshers 2022 will be our first big event of 2022! This will give you the chance to take a look at some groups you may have missed in Term 1 as well as some newcomers and our commercial partners 🍕🍕🍕
The event will take place in the Percy Gee Building from 10am-4pm on 25th & 26th January 2022.
As part of keeping yourself and others safe, and staying in line with University and SU COVID regulations, please ensure you have tested negative on a lateral flow test before attending and that you are wearing a mask at all times while taking part in the fair as an attendee or a participant (unless exempt)

FOOTBALL, RACE-RELATIONS AND LEICESTER: A CONVERSATION WITH DR PAUL CAMPBELL

Join us for an open discussion with UoL lecturer and the Chair of the University of Leicester Race Equality Action Group, Dr Paul Campbell, about how racism operates within football at all levels and impact that has on society – looking at areas from the sport itself to community organising to the decisions made by video game developers in football-based games. This event will also have a Q+A session with Dr Campbell at the end.

❓Where are the fairs happening?
The Activities and Sports Fair are happening across the Percy Gee Building.
❓How can I enter the fairs?
To enter the fairs you will need to head to the o2 Academy entrance.
❓Is there a quiet hour?
There is a quiet hour taking place 10:00-11:00 each day. There will also be quieter periods throughout the day.
❓Do I need a negative test to attend?
We will not be asking for a negative test however, if you are experiencing any symptoms please do not attend the fairs until you’ve had a negative test.
❓Will masks be mandatory?
Unless you are medically exempt, we would recommend wearing a mask in the fair.

✨ Get Involved with Societies Council ✨
Chaired by , Societies Council is YOUR platform for societies and sports clubs to support the direction of the Students’ Union. We’re looking for 6 enthusiastic students to join this year’s team. We will be reopening applications for two more roles in November.
What will I do?
The time commitment for this role is a maximum of four hours per month. You will:
📒Attend monthly Societies Council Meetings
🗳Review and vote on New Student Group Applications
💷 Review and vote on Grant Funding Applications
✍️Work on projects alongside the Activities Officer
🎉 Sit on the panel for the annual Opportunities Awards
Who can apply?
You do not need to be a committee member to be part of Societies Council – you just need to be enthusiastic about Societies at Leicester.
We are actively seeking applications from a wide range of societies to ensure a wide range of student group experiences and opinions.

Get an exclusive insight from an inspirational panel of alumni and industry professionals, who will talk about their careers, the different routes and opportunities available and top tips for getting your foot in the door.
We have guest speakers from the following sectors within sport:
- Sports Physiotherapy
- Sports Psychology
- Sports Business and Operations
- Sport in Education
- Sports Marketing and Media Coverage
Each speaker will give a brief talk about their job and how they obtained that role and then there will be an opportunity for students to join in with the Q&A and network.
