Tigi John, Clinical Lead at Langdale Heights – Langdale Ladder

🌟 Staff Spotlight - Langdale Ladder! 🌟

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our staff through Langdale Ladder, where we recognise those who have been promoted to new positions and roles during their time at Langdale Care Homes. This initiative celebrates the dedication and growth of our team, shaping a brighter future for Langdale.

Today, we introduce Tigi John, Clinical Lead at Langdale Heights. We asked Tigi a few questions:

Tell us a little bit about how you climbed the Langdale Ladder.

I joined Langdale Care Homes in July 2021 as a Senior Health Care Assistant. In August 2023, I was promoted to Head of Care at Langdale Heights, and in May 2024, I proudly took on the role of Clinical Lead at Langdale Heights, up to date.

What makes you passionate about working at Langdale Care Homes?

I have received support from management and directors, who have mentored me and provided growth opportunities, for which I am genuinely grateful. I also love caring for our residents and contributing to the team’s success. The trust and belief in my abilities have shaped my career.

Tell us something unique about yourself that makes you such a star.

My communication skills, teamwork and enthusiasm have driven my success.

Tell us a lovely story about your work in Care.

One memorable experience was connecting with a resident at Langdale Heights, which taught me the importance of empathy, active listening, and building trust. These moments have deepened my connection with the residents and shaped my approach to care.

Thank you, Tigi, for your dedication. We are proud to have you on our team, and your hard work continues to inspire us all.

Today, we hear from Leanne Belmonte, who serves as both a Carer and Activities Coordinator at Sutton in the Elms, where she plays a vital role in planning engaging, personalised activities that support the well-being of our residents with Dementia. Let's hear Leanne's insightful answers to the questions we asked her about dementia care: How do you tailor your care for residents living with Dementia? "Millions of people develop Dementia before reaching old age, which leads to a loss of cognitive functions, causing disorientation. To support them, I make sure I truly understand each resident's family history, interests, likes, dislikes, and even old friendships before planning activities. For instance, using old photographs or engaging in activities like dancing, singing, artwork, or even a trip to the park can significantly enhance their well-being. These personalised activities help ease their fears and frustrations, bringing joy and excitement. It's all about connecting with them and giving them the love, understanding, and compassion they need to feel secure and hopeful." What do you want the world to know about living with Dementia? "Dementia affects people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. It's essential to raise awareness and reduce cognitive decline while respecting their rights and choices. We need to provide programmes that support their progression and improve brain acuity. Empathy and understanding can make a world of difference." At Langdale Care Homes, we are committed to person-centred care that celebrates each resident's individuality. Thank you, Leanne, for your dedication and for reminding us all that every moment
