10 of the 12 pieces sold raising £185 (50% of sales). However it doesn’t stop there! have generously offered to match my donation, making a new grand total of £370, which is amazing! Thank you 💙 so much.

I know Jack ( ) hasn’t been too well the past few weeks and unable to come to my kids art classes, so this really does make it even more important to continue to raise awareness of the good work Little Havens does and the monies to make it happen…

Eek! Today is the start of December already! So I thought I’d do my ‘sort of’ annual 12 days of Christmas Art Sale! A piece of artwork for sale from 1st - 12th December, ranging from £15 - £150.

However this year I want to do something slightly different. I’m going to donate 50% of all the monies raised to a kid I know, Jack, who along with his Dad, Rob, is raising money by challenging himself to run a total of 25k, yes 25K in the month of December for Havens Hospices

I teach Jack in one of my A-Z classes and to say art is his passion is an understatement - he is totally obsessed and also very talented! I really wanted to see how I could combine his passion for art with his fund raising activities and Voila!

To put this into a bit of context, Jack has rare and life-limiting medical conditions which adversely affects his quality of life on a daily basis. However, because of the amazing dedicated support of the NHS and Little Havens, Jack is fighting these conditions and looking forward to his 11th Birthday.

Wow a busy time at this weeks Kid’s A-Z Art Club! We have reached the letter I for Impressionism and we looked at the iconic ‘Bridge over a Pond of Waterlilies’ by Claude Monet.

Using water soluble felt tip pens, the kids created their picture with different pen strokes and marks rather than solid blocks of colour. Then using a water bottle they sprayed water all over their work, creating the watery, watercolour effect. AMAZING!

This week in Kid’s A-Z Art Club we ate our work - all in the name of Edible Art! 🍬🍭

Looking at the work of the 16th century Italian artist, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, we created self portraits out of sweets (with a few vegetables thrown in!) Yuk!

I love how the kids created some great portraits before the temptation became too much and the sweets were eaten!

It was a truly beautiful afternoon at yesterday. The sunshine bathing the floral landscape, creating interesting highlights and shadows, with the wind constructing amazing forms and shapes of the many plants.

I’ve always wanted to be able to paint, to build up the layers to create a wonderful canvas. But I’ve never had the talent, nor the patience, but I can take a good photograph!

Which got me thinking about next year’s and developing a body of work with the working title ‘Paintings with my camera.’ (Think I might have to copyright that 😂)

Paul Cézanne, the Father of Modern Art, loved painting apples in his still life compositions.

To celebrate Black History Month, we looked at the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat this week at Kids A-Z Art Club.

Using crayons, paint sticks and acrylics, the kids built up layers to create their version of ‘Untitled’ (the skull) - image 2.

Basquiat said ‘I like kids’ work more than work by real artists any day’ and I tend to agree 👏👏👏

So looking forward to teaching in this year’s Festival of Learning , in conjunction with . Open to any homeschoolers aged between 5-11 who fancy learning their ABC of Art!

There are two dates - Tuesday 17th Oct 10-12pm, with the same session repeated again on Thursday 19th Oct 10-12pm. It’s free but booking is essential.

01.09.23 - first day of Autumn - and just like that Summer is over. So I decided to take trip to one of my favourite places…

When taking photos RHS Garden Hyde Hall I feel like I’m cheating a bit, as it really is all in the planting!

The use of foliage as structure amongst the floosy florals, perfectly frames & stages the image for me!

I always find something new that peeks my interest when I visit and this time it was grasses !

I just love the gentle movement of the stems swaying in the wind, framing the shot. The grasses look like carefully curated brush strokes across the image.

I look forward to going back in October and seeing the autumnal changes as the garden winds down for winter…
