Learning to ride a bike is a major milestone in a child's life, filled with challenges and triumphs. One effective approach to make this journey smoother? Ditch the traditional stabilisers!
Most cycle instructors agree that it's best to start with balance before moving on to pedalling unaided. This method offers numerous benefits:
✨ Improved control: Your child will learn to slow down and stop properly right from the start.
🌍 Better stability: Stabilisers can be misleading, making bikes unstable on bumpy or sloping ground. This can create habits that are hard to break later.
🧠 Simpler learning process: Removing stabilisers lets your child focus on balance and steering first, making the transition to pedalling much easier.
We love getting reviews from our riders parents.

A gorgeous day to be learning to cycle and learning new skills. 3 young riders took part in Bikeability level 1, learning to control their bikes, steering, braking, looking all around and cycling one handed using fun games to achieve this. Lots of fun in the sun.
Amazing Saturday, I had taught this young rider to cycle when she was 5, we then started the bike skills for Bikeability level 1. Soon after she was cycling on the roads completing her level 2 and now she has smashed the advanced road cycling level 3 course. It's lovely to be part of a cycling journey.
Popped along to visit Stevenage Cycling Hub CIC Jason and the Cargonaut.
It is available for hire and so much fun to cycle. Supplied by Hertfordshire Cycling, Walking and Wheeling
Other bikes are available to hire and purchase. 🚲
We have had a wonderful Easter teaching children to cycle independently. Some riders went into learning how to control their bike with fun skills. We also had cyclists completing their bikeability Level 1 and learnt new bike skills.
