Lancashire Schools FA - Girls section are delighted to announce their nomination process for the 2023/24 Season U14 girls squad is now open.

The squad will compete in the ESFA National Champions league style competition and the Northern Counties Championship - more details of which are expected soon.

The first trial will take place on Sunday 9 July (exact details will be sent following the deadline for registration). Further trials will take place across the summer and early into the new school year, however, we are still allowing player nominations to start being made so that we can process them, organise trial numbers in advance due to the high numbers we receive each year.

It is ESSENTIAL that nominations are made ASAP and NOT after the deadline date and that players endeavour to attend as many trials as possible to aid us to make a clear judgement on the squad selected.

Nominations MUST be made via this online form and can be done by a teacher, coach or parent. Please ensure that your contact details are completed correctly so we can get in touch with the player’s parent once arrangements have been made for the trials.

Players must be of an experienced level from either a grassroots club or the England Talent Pathway and in Year 8 or 9 in the 2023/24 academic school year and reside in a school in Lancashire (if you are unsure on any qualification criteria, please contact us via email at: [email protected] or telephone/text Phil Eastwood on 07810298188).

Lancashire County Schools Football is open to ALL female players in the County from Grassroots to Regional Talent Centre players and Lancashire are proud to count current England and Scotland Internationals Keira Walsh and Hannah Godfrey as former Red Roses.

More details will be emailed to you about the opportunity and commitment once trial arrangements have been made but we will work closely with your clubs to allow you the best opportunity to represent your County in the ESFA National and Regional competitions.

Deadline for nominations is strictly Friday 30 June 2023 to allow us to prepare for the initial trial date.

The squad will compete in the ESFA National Champions league style competition and the Northern Counties Championship - more details of which are expected soon.

Congratulations to former Lancashire Schools FA - Girls section player, Keira Walsh, who this week won ‘International Player of the Year’ at the Inaugural Women’s Football Awards.

Congratulations to former Lancashire Schools FA - Girls section player, Alyssa Aherne, who has signed her first professional contract with Manchester United Women.

Alyssa has been with Manchester United’s Academy since the age of 13 and was part of their Under 21 WSL Academy League and Cup winning side in 2022. 🌹⚽️👏🏻

The 2022/23 season has come to an end and what a season it has been!

Congratulations to all of the girls involved in this year’s U14 and U16 squads, not forgetting the parents and family members who have transported the girls to various venues throughout the season and offered their unwavering support!

What….a….team performance! 🌹⚽️

Lancashire Schools FA - Girls section U14s have achieved the double after a 3-1 win over Merseyside U14 girls at Poolfoot Farm Sports & Leisure Complex this morning!

Merseyside’s early goal from the penalty spot saw them take an early lead but that didn’t stop our girls who continued to battle for an equaliser against a strong Merseyside team.

Lancashire’s persistence forced an equaliser (Sophia Burton) followed by a second goal just before half time (Sophia Burton). Lancashire went into the break leading 2-1. The second half saw a very strong Lancashire performance and a well deserved third goal (Emily Farnhill) sealed the win.

A great match which showcased the talent within girls’ football across the North West of England.

Thank you to the Merseyside players and staff for making the journey over to Lancashire for this morning’s Northern Counties Schools Final.

IT’S MATCH DAY…Lancashire Schools FA - Girls section U16s and U14s travel to Stoke City Football Club this morning for their English Schools' Football Association National County Cup Finals v Kent U16s (ko 1.30pm) and Gloucestershire U14s (ko 3.30pm).

Who is coming along to Stoke FC to support them and get that Lancashire roar going in the stands? 🌹🌹

For some of our U16s this is their last ever match for Lancashire. Let’s go out on a high and leave everything on the pitch!

Lancashire Schools FA - Girls section U14s travelled up to the North East today to face Durham in their Northern Counties Schools FA semi-final. The girls dominated from the start with two quick goals in the first few minutes from Sophia and Darcie. Durham got one back but Lancashire’s Sophia scored again just before the half time whistle to go into the break leading 3-1. The teams came back out and it was Durham who were the first to score in the second half to make the scoreline 3-2. Lancashire continued to attack and, just before the full time whistle, Sophia achieved a hatrick and scored a fourth goal to secure the win. Final score 4-2. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

The girls will now face either Merseyside or Northumberland in the Northern Counties Schools FA Final.
