Mondays are now the new Tuesdays!
The bodyweight HIIT classes will now be held on Monday evenings rather than Tuesdays. But don’t worry - It’s still the same class, the same types of exercises, just on a different day.
Join us for our first official Monday evening class on the 15th July at 6:30pm.
📍- Leyland Methodist Community Centre.
⌚️- Mondays at 6:30pm - 7:30pm.
💰- £7.50 per session or £25 per month.
Some slight changes have been made to The Run Club in partnership with .leyland. The club will now be running on Saturdays rather than Sundays, with the first new session starting on 13th July.
If you’re in the local area and you’d like an easy way to get back into running, then head down to the cafe for 10am and join us for a little jog around the streets of Leyland.

Meet Abby 👋
Abby has been attending the Tuesday night HIIT classes since March, and she has improved HUGELY in her fitness levels. She always shows a fantastic willingness to work and improve, and I am very grateful to be able to instruct Abby every week.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention… she’s also lost nearly 2 stone!
Awesome work Abby, you’re a legend. 🙌

We had a tough session tonight after a week off last week. Plenty of strength-based exercises with couple of challenging isometric exercises to finish off the session.
What a great bunch of people these guys are and boy do they put the work in each week. They are an absolute pleasure to instruct every Tuesday evening. 🏋️

If you’ve never attended and you fancy joining us, simply come down on the night and make sure to wear sports appropriate clothing. Prices are £6 per person - which can be paid by either cash or card.
There’s a lovely little community building at the Leyland HIIT class, so there’s no need to be scared or intimidated. It’s just a lovely bunch of local people working out together and having a laugh.

This morning I had the amazing opportunity to lead a brand new running club based at .leyland. Which was an absolute pleasure.
It was brilliant to meet lots of local people who are interested in running, and who want to be fitter and healthier. As well as building a lovely new community of runners of all abilities.
I can’t wait to do it all over again in two weeks time! 🏃♂️

Well done to everyone who attended the class this evening, you all put in an amazing shift. So you should all be very proud of yourselves. 👏
We had a brilliant session this evening, with a full range of different exercises incorporating numerous muscle groups.
The workout was performed in more of a circuit styled fashion, which seemed to work really well. As members were able to inspire one another as they grafted through the work. 💪

What a bunch of lovely people this group are! We enjoyed a brilliant HIIT session this evening, with lots of cardio-focused exercises. We switched it up tonight, with at 20-10 ratio, rather than the usual 30-30 ratio.
Hence some sweaty faces. 🥵

Meet… Tim!
Tim is one of my 1-2-1 clients whom I train on a weekly basis. He is 39 years old, a dedicated husband and father of 3 boys. Tim’s main goal is be in the best shape he’s ever been in by the time he’s 40.
His drive and willingness to achieve this goal is incredible. Even when work and home life can be challenging, he leaves it all behind, and commits himself to the hard work in every session, which will undoubtedly bring him closer to his goal.

Today’s workout was a strength-focused session and triple plank finisher, with 3 varieties of the plank to beast the core at the end.

It was a tough workout this evening with a lot of exercises working on core strength. The team absolutely smashed it. Especially Anne who came straight from a night shift without sleeping before hand. 🤯

Volume 9 - Wholegrains
Wholegrains are full of fibre and when digested, help to stimulate healthy gut bacteria, due to its probiotic properties. As a result, an increased level of bacteria thrives within the gut.
Studies show that an increased level of healthy gut bacteria, is associated with reduced risks of cardiovascular disease. Regular consumption of wholegrains has also been linked to reduced levels of LDL cholesterol and reduced risks of hypertension.
Therefore, an excellent example of how to utilise nutrition in an effort to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
If you can, try and introduce some wholegrains into your diet. And I’m sure your body will thank you for it.

Volume 8 - Garlic
This week’s heart healthy food is Garlic. Garlic has been shown to be beneficial to the functionality of endothelial cells and reduce arterial stiffness. Meaning veins and arteries are able to dilate and constrict more freely, thus, reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Therefore, nutritional interventions that include regular garlic consumption, can be very effective in reducing the risk of cardiac conditions such as hypertension and coronary heart disease.
A powerful little sucker!
Also, top tip - If you slice garlic and leave it for approximately 10 minutes before cooking, the bioavailability increases. Meaning more of the nutritional value within garlic can be absorbed and utilised internally.

This lot all did an amazing job this evening with many of them doing their first ever HIIT class, having not done much exercise for some time. As well as some really good progress being made by some of the regulars. 💪

The day was filled with laughter and lots of people participating in the plank challenge. The winner managed 5 minutes and 4 seconds - at the age of 75!

Volume 7 - Green Tea 🍵
This week’s heart healthy food (or drink) is green tea / matcha. This super drink has been shown to increase levels of a digestive hormone called leptin.
This is beneficial for cardiac health, as leptin has been shown to have beneficial influences on LDL cholesterol, as well as reducing blood pressure.
Unfortunately, it has become a new healthy craze and thus, the price of green tea & matcha has increased. But if you’re able to get hold of some green tea or matcha, it will provide you with some fantastic cardiac health benefits.

Today’s session was a sweaty one, with a 40/20 split of an EMOM style workout. Everyone put in some really hard work and smashed out the exercises at a fantastic intensity. 🏋️♂️
I’m really loving this little community of people that’s slowly starting to build within this class. It’s always a pleasure to lead these lovely people through a challenging yet rewarding workout.

Volume 6 - Nuts 🥜
This week we are looking at the cardiac health benefits of nuts. Nuts are full of fibre, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids. They are a brilliant food choice for reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease, and altering the ratio of LDL/HDL cholesterol.
As we spoke about with Seeds previously, the plant-based source of omega-3 is called Alpha-Linolenic Acid. And it is a powerful chemical responsible for promoting growth of endothelial cells within the blood vessels, and reducing inflammation within the veins and arteries.
Nuts have also been shown in peer-reviewed literature, to reduce the risks of hypertension and coronary heart disease. Making it a very useful tool for promoting cardiac health.
Therefore, go get some lovely nuts. And Enjoy.

Volume 5 - Beans 🫘
In this week’s edition, we are talking about beautiful beans. Beans are full of resistance starches and polyphenols, which are fantastic to promote healthy gut microbes. As they ferment within the digestion process - hence why you can experience some gassy side effects!
Beans are also brilliant for increasing the ratios of HDL cholesterol within our bloodstream, as well as reducing the risk of atherosclerosis. Which is extremely important to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions.
Many different types of beans will provide you with these benefits so don’t worry about which specific ones to choose, they will all provide cardiac health benefits if you regularly consume them. My advice would be to have a variety of beans in your food cupboard for different occasions.

Volume 4 - Fish & Fish Oils
This week’s highlighted food of the week is Fish/fish oil. Fish that is fatty and oily in nature, such as trout, salmon, mackerel etc. is full of omega-3 fatty acids, and shown to be beneficial for cardiac health.
Increasing the consumption of these healthy fats, alters the ratio of HDL cholesterol within the blood, which has been shown to decrease the risk of arrhythmias and hypertension.
There are also tonnes of other health benefits in other areas of the body, when eating fish regularly. We will cover these in future programs looking other areas of health.
But, as a guideline, if you can increase your consumption of fatty fish to at least twice per week, then your health will benefit greatly from it. This can be done easily on a budget, without having to spend lots of money, which we will discuss later this week in our highlights video.
In the meantime, go get some lovely fish!
