We’ve had twins! Two cracking RX450H up for sale - as usual, under normal retail price.

We nailed it today and proved the dealer is not always the best place to take your vehicle. An imported Toyota Alphard which has been converted into a camper came for a 2nd opinion as the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. We diagnosed this over a month ago as it had been to a dealer and was told it needed a £3500 abs pump but could not guarantee this would fix the vehicle. With in our diagnostic assessment fee we found that this would have been a total waist of money. Unfortunately for the customer it needed a hybrid inverter which was considerably more money but was the correct diagnosis. A new inverter was ordered and after a month we finally fitted it today, confirm a fix and a full clean bill of health using the same tool that the dealer has.

New tool being used for the first time some exciting stuff for us. We have here in the photo a Fiat 500 BSI unit which stands for Body Systems Interface, which is a control unit that manages various body functions on the vehicle, such as lighting, wipers, central locking, and more. It acts as a central hub for controlling and coordinating these systems.
This tool give us the ability to collect all the important data from a defective bsi unit and store the information on our device we then connect a known good used unit and write the data to it. This is now a cloned unit and can now simply be plugged into the vehicle and it will work just like the old unit. Making it a much cheaper fix for our customers as new units can be horrendously expensive which can only be bought from the main dealers.

Nissan Qashqui in for a diagnostic assessment as the dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree. A simple corroded wire on a rear abs sensor was the cause of 52 codes from 14 modules affected. The vehicle has 23 modules on the vehicle. So one bit of information that was not available because of a broken wire cause 14 modules to fault. 🤯
Fitted 2 new pin because the other terminal was a little green from a spare connector I had in my toolbox.

If Carlsberg did brake jobs this would be it. A new customer to us that owns a loverly Mercedes C63s had been quoted £1500 by the dealer for new rear brakes.
For almost HALF the price we used OE quality parts that come with a 2year/20.000 mile warranty but they need to be fitted correctly using the right tools and products.
Hub faces clean up properly and a light coating of high temp ceramic grease which will keep corrosion at bay before the new disc goes on. Both carriers removed and shims removed and a light file out of the carried where the pads sits and again a light coating of ceramic grease to keep corrosion from building up before the new shims are fitted .
Caliper sliders removed and cleaned before a light coating of Ceratec which is a non oil based high temperature brake grease. This is so important because it will not dry out with heat keeping the slider moving and the non oil base product will not attack the rubber boots that keep the water and dirt out from the slider.
Pads are also given a light coating of Ceratec on the brake tabs to keep them moving in the carrier. All bolts torqued up to manufacture specifications. A light application of ceramic grease on the hub where the wheel will sit. These rear wheels will have no problems being removed in the future. A final clean of the wheel face with our hub cleaning tool, makes for a perfectly executed brake job.

Being an invested garage we have to do the hard yards. We spend time and money investigating in tooling and training and it pays off. We had a 2019 Kia Ceed come from a car dealer, it was a no start and it had been to the main dealer and several other garages without any success of resolving the vehicle issue of it not starting.

Customer reported the dealer said it was a fuel pump issue. After several tests we confirmed the primary low pressure pump had no issues as well as the high pressure pump achieving the set fuel pressure the engine Ecu want’s to see before activating the fuel injectors. Timing was confirmed good as well as good relative compression test and peek cylinder pressure.

We went in cylinder and the data indicated the exhaust had a restriction. The Dpf pressure sensor did not register a high back pressure so the blockage had to be closer to the engine.
We removed the air fuel ratio sensor which is directly behind the turbo but in front of the dpf catalyst but it still had high exhaust back pressure, which means it had to be down to the turbo.

Removal of the air intake pipe and with an inspection camera we found the turbo compressor wheel nut had come off which had in turn cause the exhaust turbine wheel to move and restrict the exhaust gases from leaving the engine causing an air restriction in the exhaust causing the no start.

We fished the loose nut out and removed an exhaust manifold temperature sensor. With a turn of the key the engine roared into life confirming our diagnosis was correct. The data does not lie, no guessing just testing.
