Kymbo's Kitchen - Lincoln
Home baker & cake decorator based in Lincoln. Originally founded in 2009, "A Piece of Cake" specialised in decorated occasion cakes.
I stopped trading in 2015 to complete my nurse training, but after many requests over the years, I have decided to restart my cake decorating and baking business on a part time basis alongside my nursing - reformed as "Kymbo's Kitchen", the place where it all happens
Kymbo’s kitchen is a fully registered, 5 inspected business- fully compliant with food hygiene and allergen certification.
A huge congratulations to the happy couple 🥰 it’s been an honour to make the cake for your special day as my final order before closing the kitchen ❤️
You may all recall from my post last month… I’ve had to make the tough decision to stop taking orders - and this was the last order I was waiting to fulfil before making the leap
I hope it won’t be forever. I love making cakes 😊 but demands of Nurse life and my family have to come first right now.
Thank you for all your kind words and custom. You’ve been amazing. Hopefully I will see you all again in the future
Love Kym x
So I was going to leave this post until next month, but as I’m getting a lot of requests at the moment I thought now is probably a better time.
Unfortunately I’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to ‘close the kitchen’ 😪
The increasing cost of ingredients, along with the cost of living you’re all facing is making it really hard for me to feel good about putting my prices up, but it’s not viable continuing as I have been.
I get very little free time outside of my full time (and then some) nursing job, and as much as I don’t do this for the money- when it’s to make £4ph sometimes, it’s just not worth losing that time for.
I’ll never say never and I’m hoping to be back one day… I love making my cakes and cheesecakes 😊 but the strain of NHS life and running a house / family is enough to fill my little brain at the moment.
You’re only here once and I hope you all understand I need to do what’s best for me and my family right now ❤️
Never forget where you started 🥰
The pink cake was my first EVER cake I had ever tried whilst practicing 13 years ago in prep for my sons christening cake (the whole reason I started making cakes! I didn’t have enough money to buy one)
You can do anything with hard work and perseverance 😊
This was a white chocolate, vanilla and raspberry cake for a special 18th birthday 😊 (18th topper was added later)
I had a brief of tall and slim, white and gold… and this is what we came up with 🥰 this beast was made of 2 complete 4 layer cakes stacked together to give us the 8 layer 12” tall final result 😀
This cake took the longest I’ve ever spent on any cake- lesson learned never underestimate the time and skill it takes to get smooth buttercream 😂 but it was worth every hour to get this beautiful end result 🥰
I loved doing this cake 😊 It’s been 13 years since I made my first ever cake- and it was a me 2 you bear (il share a picture later!) so it bought back a lot of memories 😊
This was a chocolate fudge and raspberry cake… designed with Gemma’s partner to make the perfect 40th birthday cake for her based around a me 2 you bear teddy she has 🥰
Simple and Elegant (well, I think anyway 😂)
I love how pretty this ended up 🥰
Cake topper and sugar flowers also made by myself 😊
Can’t believe I forgot to post this cake from few weeks ago!
Lemon drizzle top tier and vanilla & raspberry bottom tier for Dawn’s 60th Birthday 🥰
I’m not great with sculpting / modelling work… but I had some images sent of one of a shoe and a bag the customer wanted to feature on the cake and we created this! Everything made by myself (including sugar cocktail 🥰) This shoe took me almost as long as the entire cake to make 😂
oh and obligatory accompanying biscoff cheesecake to go with the order for these loyal and returning customers😊
ORDER BOOK BACK OPEN 😃
I don’t want to go too far in advance just yet just until things settle but I am going to start taking orders again from May 😊 there will only be limited capacity as I will also be starting a new job as a Clinical Nurse Specialist… get me!
Thank you again so much for your patience whilst I’ve not been well 🥰 your loyalty really means a lot 😊
Merry Easter to all my amazing customers. Who would have thought this time last year was when I re-opened!
Thank you so much for all of your enquiries and custom over this last year, and more importantly thank you for your patience whilst I’ve not been well and had to slow things down. I hate turning down orders 😞 but I WILL be up and running again before long 🥰
Have a fantastic weekend guys😊
This was a special creation for my husband
When you can’t decide if you want Victoria sponge or cheesecake for your birthday- have both 😂
Fresh cream Victoria sponge for the bottom tier and a cheesecake ‘pie’ on the top 🥰 (ginger biscuit crumb with lemon cheesecake filling 😋)
Some little Mother’s Day cheesecakes I’ve made for my own stepmum/mother in law 😊
Lemon and white chocolate and then black forest 😋 complete with handmade roses.
This might be an idea for next year!
I’m hoping I will be able to start opening my order book in the next few weeks 😍 I will keep you posted 😊
In the meantime, I’ve been making flowers for upcoming orders 😊
Here it is 😍
Extra special birthday cheesecake… 2 tiers of raspberry and white chocolate goodness for Maya’s 16th Birthday 😃
I love how this turned out 🤩
Something new is coming tomorrow 🤩
I’m so excited to see how this turns out! Here’s a little teaser of what’s going in there 😍
Throwback cake - I loved this one!
It was a gift for my nephews christening (that I had to miss😪)
Simple but just lovely 🥰
These were just home bakes this weekend.
One for my ‘son in law’s’ Christmas present (I gave him a voucher for his own cheesecake 😂)- he picked malteser flavour 🤩 and then a lemon / passionfruit cheesecake for our house.
I just LOVE cheesecake 🥰
Food (or cake 😊) for thought.
Something a bit different this week ❤️
Navy & gold double chocolate fudge drip cake with handmade sugar flowers 🥰

P.S post pinched from a fellow small business 💗
Afternoon all 😊 and happy new year! I’ve come back from my leave early as I’ve had so many messages 😂
I’m sorry I’ve been quiet of late. As I made a few people aware of before Christmas I’ve been having some health issues that have meant taking a back seat for a little while. I still don’t have a date for my heart op so I’m still taking orders, but only taking on a few orders a week at the most (I’m still a full time Nurse also, so I hope you appreciate this decision). If you have a date in mind, please don’t wait until last minute and get in there quick 😊
Just a few other points to remind you of following recent messages:
💛Payment can be bank transfer, PayPal or cash- but the full balance is required no later than 14 days before your date. I do not take payment on delivery I’m afraid- I’ve learned the hard way with this 😪
💛Please try not be mean if you are not happy with your quote. I try to keep my prices as fair as I possibly can. However as I’m sure you’re all aware, gas, electric and the cost of food has gone up a crazy amount… and have you seen the price of butter 😳. My time is precious as I get very little and also have a family…. if you wouldn’t work for less than minimum wage yourself, please don’t expect me to. I make very little on any of my cakes so please don’t be rude… I will never be offended if you want to look elsewhere, but swearing at me or throwing insults isn’t fair. There’s always Asda 😊
The Christmas orders have now gone out, I’m home with a cuppa and tying up a few loose ends ready for my time off 😊
From 12pm today I will be signing off and not back at work (NHS or in the kitchen) until 9th January. It’s my first time off since July so I’m going to be having some much needed down time- and will not be replying to emails or messages until the evening of the 9th.
Thank you so much for all your support & well wishes recently ❤️ it means a lot. I hope you all have an amazing Christmas with your loved ones, filled with plenty of food and fizz 😊
Lots of love 🥰
Pretty and simple rainbow cake from the weekend 🥰
Cupcake bouquet made last week ❤️
My Neice has been to visit this evening… shes been desperate to learn what I do behind the scenes, and then how to ice cupcakes / learn about the different tips / effects you can create.
She set herself quite the challenge- choosing flowers as her first ever attempt. But wow 😍
She’s 16 and never done this before! How fab do these look 🥰
It’s been a quiet few weeks here (through choice) - I’ve been working hard in Nurse land and also not been well for a few weeks … but I made these little cuties as gifts for a few people ❤️
Mini mince pie cheesecake (ohhh my god 🤤)and this mini battenburg cheesecake to go with its larger mummy one 😂
Although my husband managed to demolish his to himself- these would make 2-3 human sided portions 😂
How adorable are they!
Battenberg cheesecake 🤤
Il let you know how it tastes later 🤩
Green light to share 🤩
Remember those pretty petals from last week- here’s what they were for 🥰
Those that know me know I hate making character cakes 😂 I have a phobia of making them looking nothing like the real thing, but I’m quite pleased how this little guy turned out 🥰
Everything handmade by moi and edible (with the exception of the name topper- although handmade, the glitter and plastic may not taste nice 😂)
Huge thanks to Cakes By Carol and her amazing sharp edge smoother I got at cake international 🤯
Usually I hate making sugarpaste cakes, they’re so hard to get a clean finish sometimes, they tear or just end up lumpy even with a good quality paste, then I get stressed and wish I’d never started 😂
Not with this magic tool! Within 5 minutes a perfectly smooth sharp finish ready for this weeks cake - and I’ve never used one before! 🤩
I can’t wait to show you the finished cake 🥰
Keeping it in the family ❤️
My son wanted to see how I create some of the things I put on my cakes, and has been having a go at dusting with me today (a technique cake decorators use to really bring things to life)
Wow 🤩 He’s only 13 and I think these look amazing! You can’t even tell the difference between his and mine!
How bright is that pink!! We used bright magenta dust to really make these tropical themed flowers pop 🥰 loving the leaves too! What do you all think?
