Cursor's summer placement student Joshua was really getting into the team spirit by the end of his six weeks with us! โฝ
Joining the Cursor lads for football, he wowed everyone with his excellent goalkeeping skills... Hadi even gave him the official 'signed' handshake seal of approval! ๐ค
During his placement, Joshua spent time shadowing our team, training, and building his own website under our guidance. Well done for your hard work Joshua - both on and off the field! ๐

- How can curriculum design keep up to date with the modern world?
- How can partnerships between learning providers and industry help to improve education?
- What role will AI play in the future of learning?
Why not have a read via our blog, and find out what the experts had to say... https://buff.ly/3zwPdHZ
*Friday lunchtime read - Avoiding Towers of Knowledge*
Ah, the summer holidays - when staff go on leave and you suddenly realise: 'I need some help, but only one person knows how to do it!!'
It can be easy to get stuck at this time of year, waiting for key colleagues to return from their leave to be able to make progress on your tasks and goals.
We explored the issue of 'towers of knowledge' in software development via our blog post: https://buff.ly/48QU8k4 - why not take a look this Friday lunchtime and learn more about continuity planning solutions.
*'The Future of Education - a discussion' with Stephen Smith from Lincoln College*
As technology continues to advance and reshape the job market, educational institutions face a dual challenge; not only must they provide students with the skills and knowledge needed for long-term career success, but they must also leverage technology to improve their own operations and stay competitive.
We recently had the opportunity to interview Stephen Smith, a curriculum lead at Lincoln College (UK), who shared valuable insights on the college's innovative initiatives and the challenges of aligning education with industry needs.

We were delighted to have Guy Patten from The Priory Academy LSST at Cursor last week for work experience.
Guy was a pleasure to have around and joined in confidently with our daily stand up meetings. He spent time shadowing our development team learning about different programming languages and how to run automated tests, plus getting an insight into our current client work.
He also spent time with our designers Nick (pictured) and Jen learning how we take a website from concept, through wireframe and colour visuals, to the real thing. Alongside all of that he found time to put what he learnt into practice by building his own website!
Well done Guy and best of luck for the rest of your studies.
Swipe through these pictures - they tell a story. Can anyone work out what's going on here?? ๐
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our clients Bishop Grosseteste University who have recently been ranked... (drum roll please)

The Cursor offices are closed today for the spring bank holiday, but we will be back to usual tomorrow, Tuesday 28th May at 8:30am.
Wishing all our followers a nice breather today - especially those will be spending the rest of the week juggling work and kids over the half term break!
In our changing post-pandemic and post-AI job market, the skills gap between education and industry has never been wider. However, there is hope on the horizon.
We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Andrew Chisholm, a Director at the Priory Federation of Academies Trust, about the shifting landscape of post-16 education in the UK and the importance of industry collaboration to give students clear career pathways and employers access to the next generation of expertise.

The team at Cursor are sending our best wishes to the pupils and students of all ages who are currently in the midst of exams. You've got this!!
Plus let's not forget all the teachers, staff and parents who act as a vital support network at this time of year.. (You've got this too!)
We were delighted to have Joshua Gray from LSST Sixth Form at Cursor last week for work experience.
Joshua was super keen and motivated and brought a great energy to the office. He spent time shadowing our development team, learning about the different programming languages we use, and how we take a website design from the ideas stage, through wireframes and colour visuals into development and beyond.
He also spent time looking at how we write software requirements, how we set up automated testing, and got an overview of project management and the routines that help to keep our hybrid team connected both inside and outside of the office.
Here's a pic of Joshua, all smiles with our Graduate Delivery Manager Victoria. Well done Joshua and best of luck for the rest of your studies! ๐ ๐

*Friday lunchtime read - how to deliver more by doing less!*
Work is about getting things done but sometimes thereโs so much work, it feels like you're swimming against the tide. No matter how hard you try, even after a full day of working hard, you're no closer to your goals, your inbox is just as full and your to-do list is longer, not shorter.
It can be difficult to see a way out and if you are a small business owner, the last thing you want to hear is that you should spend more time working ON the business, rather than IN the business.
But there is a way forward! Learn how to 'deliver more by doing less' this Friday lunchtime with our handy blog post: https://buff.ly/3vDvk0z
We had a great time hanging out at the 2024 LincolnHack event a couple of weekends back!

Wishing all our followers a Happy World Autism Acceptance Week!

*Happy Easter!*

We wish all our customers, staff and followers a restful long weekend with lots of choccies - enjoy!!
*Is your organisation suffering from file chaos?*
If you were to break down the time spent during your working day, how would it look? Six hours working, one hour water cooler chatting, two hours commuting, perhaps.
What if we told you that more than half of all office workers spend more time searching for files than getting work done? Youโre not alone โ itโs a common problem as companies grow and more staff need access to content.
Before long, files become lost in a sea of disparate storage systems, from internal drives to Dropbox and Google Drive. Whatโs more, poor processes, or lack thereof, mean people can lose files easily. So what can we do to avoid these needle-in-a-haystack situations?
Everything from data overload to poor organisation, inconsistent file names and lack of metadata can make a difference. The good news is that thereโs a solution for each of these common errors.

We were delighted to have work experience student Joseph from Branston Community Academy with us last week!
Joseph shadowed our development team, learning all about how we work, the software we use and how we deal with bugs, testing, deployments and much more.
He had hands-on experience with HTML, Javascript and CSS and spent time with our design team learning how we transition a new website from concept, to wireframe, and beyond.
Well done Joseph and congratulations on building your very first website!
