After orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation is very important to allow individuals to return to full function.
Some examples of orthopaedic surgeries include…
- Joint replacements (e.g knee, hip, or shoulder)
- Arthroscopies.
- Ligament or tendon repairs (e.g ACL reconstruction)
- Fracture repairs
- Spinal surgeries
Maybe you know you’re planning to have an orthopaedic surgery soon? It may also be beneficial to start your physiotherapy journey prior to your surgery. This is often called ‘prehab’, watch out for more posts about this coming soon!

WISDOM WEDNESDAY: Osteoarthritis. You will probably have most commonly heard of this in the knees and/or hips. We understand that this condition can be frustrating and cause pain which may stop you from doing things that you want to do.
However, we could help you!! We can support you to increase your range of motion, strengthen the necessary muscles and hopefully reduce your pain too.

Achilles Tendonitis …
What is a tendon? It’s what attaches muscles to other body parts (usually bones). The achilles tendon is located at the back of your lower leg and joins your calf muscle to your heel bone. The strength and flexibility of this tendon are important for walking, running and jumping.
Taking it back to basics today 💭
How do we work?
As community based physios we work slightly differently to clinic based Physiotherapy. We aim to make your experience with us as comfortable as possible, so please let us know in advance if you have preferences or needs and we will do our best to accommodate these ☺️ please read this post to learn how we work!
Hi! My name is Izzy Johnson (the J in TJ Physiotherapy)
I’ll start with a little bit about myself.
My awareness of physio began with my love for trampoline gymnastics. From a young age I competed competitively at the sport, allowing me to compete for my county, england and being reserve for worlds. As with any sport I had my fair share of injuries. This is where I was first introduced to physio! I really admired how physios helped me getting back to doing what I loved! Since then, I decided to volunteer at a local neuro physio rehab centre, which opened my eyes to the diversity of physio as a career- and I then took the next steps into becoming a qualified physio.
I graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy at York St John in 2020 and have been working in the NHS ever since.
In light of the global covid pandemic, myself and Jaz were brought into work early to help on the frontline. This is where we first met! We worked as a team for a few months before moving onto our new rotations. We instantly clicked and always talked about how one day we should set up our own private physio…. And here we are today!
I have completed multiple rotations including MSK, ITU, surgical, older adults and stroke rehab. In the past 12 months I secured a senior MSK role as a static post.
TJ Physiotherapy will provide physio treatment from the comfort of your own home. Our services include, assessment of your injuries, management of your injury, rehabilitation, exercise prescription, massage and injury prevention advice.
We look forward to working with you to achieve your physio goals 🤍
Sooo it’s about time we introduced a bit about us, and how we have come to form TJ physio…and why not have a headshot so you can put a face to a name too📸
Sooo just a little bit about me…
I’m Jaz Tyler, the T from TJ physio!
From the ages of 10 to 16 I was a competitive gymnast training five times a week, which means that I saw my fair share of injuries. I think this, as well as a passion to help others, is where my inspiration for physio began! I did a lot of shadowing other physios, studied hard through school, and then in 2017 made my way to Sheffield Hallam University. In 2020 I graduated with as a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy.
I started working in the NHS straight after graduating, and worked on the frontline during the covid pandemic. Myself and Izzy started within the same week and worked as junior physios together. It was at this time we talked about the idea of creating our own private physio business, when we had developed our skills enough.
As junior physiotherapists we each rotated around different specialties. I spent time working in surgery, ICU, paediatrics/musculoskeletal, stroke rehabilitation, and orthopaedics. Then in early 2022 I secured a role as a NHS senior physiotherapist in orthopaedics which includes ward work and an outpatient clinic too. I am still currently working in this role full time.
With multiple years of experience, myself and Izzy have now fulfilled our dream of creating our very own private physiotherapy partnership, whilst also continuing our work in the NHS. We both look forward to using our knowledge and skills to help you to achieve your physio goals, rehabilitate from injuries, manage an ongoing condition, or help to prevent future injury.
I’m very proud to be a part of TJ Physiotherapy and look forward to all that the future has to offer🤍
We’re so excited to share our new physio adventure with you!
