Riverview Wellbeing Therapies
Talking therapy tailored to your need. Maybe this sounds familiar:
Rushing around and putting everyone else's needs before your own. Focus on your wellbeing.
Feeling guilty when you focus on your own wellbeing. Feeling stuck and not sure of the first step forward. Lost track of how you are going to meet your goals. Struggling to get out of bed after another bad nights sleep. I help you find your own solutions to enable you to:
Find time for yourself. Work out how to meet your goals. Find some spark in your mornings and help you towards better sleep. Y
Having problems turning your phone off at night?
This might help:
Make a list of everything you value about sleep and what difference a good night’s sleep makes to the next day. Keep the list by your bed.
This might motivate you to turn off your phone.
Finding reasons that you value to turn your phone off works better than beating yourself up about how difficult you find it to turn it off.
The light from your phone is only a small factor in keeping you awake. The main factor keeping you awake is that you are stimulating your brain rather than relaxing. Maybe use your phone for soothing music instead.
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?' The answers they got were broader, deeper, and more profound than anyone could have ever imagined!
'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore... So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'
Rebecca - age 8
'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4
'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'
Karl - age 5
'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chrissy - age 6
'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Terri - age 4
'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Danny - age 8
'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and just listen.'
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.'
Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet) 'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it every day.'
Noelle - age 7
'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'
Tommy - age 6
'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'
Cindy - age 8
'My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'
Clare - age 6
'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'
Elaine - age 5
'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'
Chris - age 7
'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.'
Mary Ann - age 4
'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'
Lauren - age 4
'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image!)
Karen - age 7
'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross...'
Mark - age 6
'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'
Jessica - age 8
And the final one: The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry.'

I don’t often do couples counselling but I managed to keep the peace between these two for 2 minutes.
Not all my clients like cats and dogs so these two are safely out of the way during sessions. But you can say hello if you want.
Riverview Wellbeing Therapies Talking therapy tailored to your need.
All this rain can be a bit depressing. However, according to a small news story this morning, it probably feels worse than it is. This is because we are wired to focus on the negative more than the positive. Whilst this was once useful way back when we were constantly in danger it is not always useful in every day life. So, in an attempt to switch those thoughts around, here is a reminder that in some areas it was beautifully sunny on Monday in some parts of the UK.
Morcambe Monday night.
Whilst still wearing my Solution Focused hat, I’m delighted to announce my recent success reflecting the new skills I bring to the therapy room.
Hope you are enjoying the sunshine on this Summer Solstice day.

Choices in which direction to go next can be really difficult. However, I’ve nearly finished my second year of MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy which means I can offer you more choices of how we work together which might help you make the right decision for you.
It all starts with getting in touch for an informal no obligation conversation, so you can make an informed choice of whether to book an appointment or not.
Which direction are you going to go is all up to you but I can help you along the way.
"Sometimes, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself."
A good message for anyone having a bad day.
A message for your child if they're having a difficult day.

It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.
She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.
And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.
But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.
Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.
The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.

An important message for your child, from Dr Caroline Leaf. We’re all human, we’re not perfect, and that’s absolutely okay.
Sometimes it's hard to know when to communicate with your child when they are very emotional or angry. We hope this graphic helps.
I help students get back on track when things don’t go to plan. I can’t help with academic work but I help students feel better in themselves so they are ready to make the first step to where they want to be. I also help students feel confident about those first days of term.
Want to know more just give me a call for no obligation conversation.

Jump Back Up July - Day 2: Adopt a growth mindset. Change "I can't" into "I can't…yet"

Adding a tiny bit of distance to difficult feelings can help make you feel like you are ‘having feelings’ instead of your feelings having you.
One way of doing this is adding “for now” to a statement of feeling. This can act as a gentle reminder that there is a “you” that exists outside of your feelings. Feelings come and go, you remain.

‘Helping you to move forward, cope with stress and to live a calmer, happier life.’
A few years ago, I reached that point in my life where I was more able to focus on my career than raising my children. This coincidentally was around the same time that I was having a relapse with my own mental health, including recovering from two small strokes and keyhole heart surgery. When I became well, I retrained and started a new career. I also started running and subsequently took part in the London marathon and the Great North Run to fundraise for MIND, a mental health charity.
The most enjoyable part of my very varied past accountancy career was always the interaction with people from all walks of life from hospital consultants to small traders to senior managers. Being able to build a rapport with them meant that they trusted me to help them to grow their business or manage their finances. Very often that trust meant they would also share with me other details of their lives and mental health was sometimes discussed. So, I was very aware that I was not the only one suffering. Indeed, friends and family members also had suffered. Having moved around the country and living on several military bases I was also aware of the added burden a military life can put on to military personal and their families’ mental health.
Now I am lucky enough to be able to combine my passion for helping people with my extensive training to help them cope with and recover from poor mental health. I mainly help people with low mood and/or anxiety but poor mental health manifests itself in many ways. Clients come to me because they need more focus or more control in their lives.
I commenced my training in clinical hypnotherapy two years ago and was surprised to learn about how it helps people and heard many success stories during my training. Once I opened my own practice, I continued my training including researching the evidence about how hypnotherapy and other therapies work. The common link that helps clients in many therapies is building a good therapeutic alliance with their therapist. In order to do this, I have attended several more courses so that I can offer my clients a range of services based around talking therapy. This enables me to tailor my sessions to my clients’ needs. Clients have many different needs and by broadening my skills I can meet more of them. I now offer solution focused talking therapy and the clients decide if they want to include hypnotherapy or not. I am based in the Lincolnshire countryside but all my sessions are also available online.
