📣 Important announcement from the Minister of Education 📣
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/hSJrcbbHDTJ4TAT2/
Education Minister Paul Givan MLA has today announced a £25million package of measures to support children, parents and providers with early learning and childcare in 2024/25.
The package of measures is designed to stabilise and support expansion of the early learning and childcare sector, offer all children 22.5 hours pre-school education per week and reduce childcare bills for working parents through a Northern Ireland Childcare Subsidy Scheme.
Currently Jolly Pirates Pre-School and Jolly Rodgers Day Nursery do not have any further information at this time. When we receive updates we will share them with you. We are pleased to see first steps being taken to offering full time pre-school provision for all children and a reduction in childcare costs for our families.

To the parents waiting patiently to receive their child’s school or nursery place tomorrow – go easy on yourself. 💌🏫
Born in a time of lockdown, we went to appointments & scans alone. No in person baby showers, no hospital visitors, no baby groups to attend. We had nowhere to bring them in their fancy dresses & spent the days at home together. Just us & them. We created a safe little world in a time of uncertainty.
And now as we wait for the email which will determine their future school or nursery place, we suddenly understand why all the parents who have gone before us, try to warn us that the days may feel long but the years are short. Not really believing that we too would spend tonight looking back at baby photos wondering how we have suddenly got here. How our little babies are not so little. Waiting for an email which will determine the new little phase of their live.
It may seem so important. We may feel nervous at letting go. For up until now we have had responsibility & control for where they go and who we meet. But their allocation of school / nursery now feels outside of our control.
And it is time that we have to prepare ourselves to hold their hand just a little looser as they make a new little journey in September. Trusting that we have provided a secure base for them over the last few years – laying the foundations for this new stage, where they learn a little bit about who they are outside of the little environment you have provided for them.
With a little tear, remember that we have 2 jobs – the first is to give them roots and the second is to support them to fly. Entering this new phase may be particularly emotional for us parents of 2020 babies.
I hope that anyone waiting for nursery and school places tomorrow gets the news you want. And if you don’t that you look back and release they ended up where they were always meant to be – and that no matter the outcome, no matter the stage, you will always be there supporting them through these little milestones together.
Hope tomorrow goes well 💗
