I’m sure that many of you may already know that after a long battle with Planning, we have finally secured the future of Bank Top Farm Shop!

We would just like to thank everyone for their continued support, positive comments and custom. A special Thank you to our very own Littleborough Lakeside Counsellor Tom Besford for campaigning hard, advice and a cracking speech that really did help push it over the line for us!

This is only a drop in the ocean of what we have got to do to before we can cut the ribbon and our future plans for what we can bring to the local people of Littleborough!

BUT don’t despair as we have arranged for the Riverside Artisan Market to be back next Saturday which will include The Grinch (honestly this guy is brilliant) and the popular pop up park featuring free arts and crafts activities, music and face painting!

As you may know, in 2022 we submitted a planning application for a New Farm Shop to enable us to expand our range of home-produced meat products and extend our hours of sales throughout the week. We also plan to sell a small range of complementary local products to support other local businesses.

Following the disappointing refusal of our plans for our farm shop, café and community/education room in July, we have now submitted a revised planning application for a single storey farm shop and café.

The proposal responds to points raised by Members of the Planning Committee and we hope that the changes and further information provided will enable our plans to be approved.

The farm shop is essential to our business growth and, as a family farm, our diversification aims are fully in line with government aims to support farms and rural businesses.

We received fantastic support on our previous application and we would like to ask you all again to register your support on our proposal by emailing or writing to the planning department at Rochdale Borough Council. The application reference is 23/01061/FUL.

Our new building would also include a small café and a community room that local groups could hire, and an education facility that schools, nursery’s and other education providers could visit and undertake lessons and farm based activities.

Despite us submitting lots of additional information over the last few months and demonstrating that the proposals would be fully linked to the farm business, unfortunately Rochdale BC Planning are recommending the application for refusal.

The proposal is essential to our business growth and, as a family farm, our diversification aims are fully in line with government aims to support farms and rural businesses.
