JULY 3RD TO JULY 21ST – A ONE-PERSON EXHIBITION BY ALEX CORINA.

Alex will be holding his third exhibition at the gallery, consisting of beautiful prints of Sefton Park, Lark Lane and local characters over a three week period. This Garston artist has exhibited over Merseyside and beyond for many years and his work is much sought after due to his wonderful linear qualities, subject-matter and delicacy of colour.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24TH TO SUNDAY AUGUST 4TH. AN EXHIBITION AND SALE OF
CONTEMPORARY ARTWORK BY CLEIDE ELLIS AND GUESTS.

Cleide, who has a studio above our gallery, is spearheading her fifth exhibition with us of her own work and a selection by other local artists of paintings, prints, greeting cards, coasters, decorated terracotta pots. Not to be missed!

AN EXHIBITION FEATURING THE WORK OF JAMES COSGROVE, LINDA MOONEY AND JAN SEAR – AUGUST 28TH UNTIL SEPTEMBER 13TH.

These three artists are keen to exhibit new work – James has a wide-ranging set of oil and acrylic paintings which are stylistically varied and are always in great demand in the gallery while Linda delicately produces beautiful water colours in her own definitive style. Jan has been working in Indian ink on a series of images of political demonstrations ranging from the Chartists to present day strikes etc. More information will be available in the next newsletter regarding opening times and contact details.

CLAIRE MORRIS EXHIBITION FROM SEPTEMBER 16TH UNTIL SEPTEMBER 29TH.

We are again welcoming Claire in another exhibition containing her prints, paintings and cards. At the moment we only have information relating to Claire’s work but will furnish further details in the next newsletter as to if other artists will be involved.

OUR CURRENT EXHIBITION IS ENTITLED, ‘ECLECTICMINX’ AND WILL CONTINUE FROM ITS INCEPTION LAST TUESDAY UNTIL SUNDAY, MARCH 10TH. OPEN EVERY DAY EXCEPT MONDAY BETWEEN 11.00 A.M. AND 5.30 P.M.

Eclecticminx is a local collective of women workers who restore, recycle, renovate and regenerate individual pieces for the home, to gift or to wear. The final week of the exhibition is something not to be missed!

NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
A SALE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR LARK LANE AND ST. MICHAEL’S COMMUNITY CENTRE FROM NOVEMBER 21ST – NOVEMBER 26TH (10.30 A.M. – 5.30 P.M. DAILY).

Our local community centre, which has flourished and developed over almost fifty years, is always in need of funds for further use in our area, so that Ruth Burnley and Jan Sear have decided to utilise the gallery for a fund-raising sale over six days at the end of November and, hopefully, raise a few hundred pounds.
Do come along to support this venture either as a customer or to donate items for sale, such as books, C.D.’s and D.V.D.’s, bric-a-brac, good quality clothing or any small items that are sellable. We’ll see you then!

STEVE BAYLEY’S NOMINATION FOR THE ‘ARTIST OF THE YEAR COMPETITION’.
Steve, who has displayed his work in the Amorous Cat over the last two years, has reached the final of the SAA (Supporting All Artists) competition for ‘Artist of the Year’. He will find out the result when the judging takes place in August. All the finalists will have work in an exhibition during October in the Espacio Gallery in London. SALE OF UP-CYCLED FURNITURE AND OF BRIC-A-BRAC BETWEEN JULY 18TH AND JULY 23RD – DAILY FROM 10.30 A.M. TO 5.30 P.M.

Ruth and Pauline, two Lark Laners who up-cycle and sell beautiful furniture, will be using our premises to display and sell their work with the outside of the gallery on the street being utilised for this purpose in addition to the gallery premises. Their friend, Christine, is coming over from Southern Ireland to assist in this venture and, among other things, will be selling denim jackets decorated by lovely art work. Do come along and see something completely different to our usual displays.

‘ALEX CORINA AT THE AMOROUS CAT’. AN EXHIBITION OF ALEX’S WORK FROM APRIL 6TH UNTIL MAY 21ST .

Local Garston artist, Alex Corina, will be holding his latest exhibition in our gallery between Thursday, April 6th and Sunday, May 21st. The gallery will be open from Thursday to Sunday on each week between 11.am. and 5.00p.m.when Alex will be available to sell his work and talk to visitors about content, methodology and media etc. Outside of these hours Alex can be seen by appointment. Contact him on: 0776388509. After a long break from sketch-book drawing he will be out and about reconnecting drawing in the bars of Lark Lane and plain-air in the Palm House and Sefton Park.
During 2022 the artist held the position of ‘Artist in Residence’ at Liverpool’s prestigious Everyman Theatre and has exhibited widely in the North of England.

JAMES COSGROVE EXHIBITION ENTITLED ‘PLACES AND FACES’ , FROM MARCH 21ST – APRIL 2ND.

James Cosgrove, a well-known artist from North Liverpool, will be holding an exhibition of his work, entitled ‘Places and Faces’, in the gallery from March 21st until April 2nd. James works largely in acrylics and is noted for his evocative, architectural cityscapes. The exhibition will be open every day except Monday between 10.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.

AN EXHIBITION OF LOCAL PRINT-MAKERS ORGANISED BY RON AND JAN SEAR –MARCH 1ST – MARCH 19TH. OPEN FROM WEDNESDAY – SUNDAY (11.00 A.M. – 5.30 P.M.) DURING EACH OF THE THREE WEEKS.

We are curating quite a large exhibition of local print-makers in the gallery to foreground the talent of this art medium prominent in the South Liverpool area. Artists involved include: Mandy Hills, Simon Banks, Peter Cameron, Steven Bayley, Nina Sara Canter and Martin Jones. There are also a large number of prints of local scenes, some of Paris and a few Japanese images. Everything will be moderately priced, so do come along and have a look!
