I'm here for a difficult reason - today we found out Effie's cancer is treatable, via a specialist her life could well be saved. The bad news is that the treatment far exceeds our insurance allowance and could reach staggering amounts. So now we are asking for help, help save our girl. Give her the chance she deserves.

Well, what a year it's been.

When we set out to start alfalfa our business plan was to cater parties & events, but 2020 had other things in mind.

When March brought us the lockdown and with everything already invested we started doing our home deliveries. July came, and the country opened back up, giving us a few glorious months in our little trailer (not without a quick broken foot). Then, Liverpool was put into a debilitating tier 3, which was quickly followed by the national lockdown.

With the goal posts ever changing this year and new rules and restrictions being brought in all of the time, we have had to change our business model, every time we had just about found traction with the last. With very little resources, both financially, and in man power this has left us both a little exhausted.

Unfortunately, as the year draws to an end we have come to the incredibly difficult decision to close alfalfa's doors for a while.

It has been an impossible year for everybody, especially those in the hospitality industry, and we feel incredibly grateful to have got to where we have amongst it all. Our following (yes, you lot) have been endlessly loyal, supportive, humbling and amazing from day dot. We can not thank you enough.

This is not the end and we have some big plans to make a come back next year, hopefully when things settle down a little and we can actually find some traction/a more permanent solution.

Thank you to everybody that has helped us get off the ground, namely: Mark, Rob + Barb (our wonderful parents), Jason, Ange, Harry, Erin, Jimi, Conor & Trev. Without you guys we couldn't have done any of it.

Finally, thank you to all of you, our wonderful little alfalfa following. Our regulars, everybody who has ordered, shared posts, entered competitions, posted, shouted about us and been on this ride with us. You've shared this journey with us from day one and we can't wait to continue in the very near future. 👊🌱

We are so excited to be back, even if it's not quite in the capacity we intended. Whether you're a familiar face, or a brand new one, we can't wait to be feeding you all again! ✌

Arriving home from our holiday to a new lockdown and tight restrictions on our sector wasnt exactly the welcome back we were hoping for.

Unfortunately due to these restrictions our partners at have had to close their doors for the time being and following lots of discussions we have also come to the decision to temporarily close the trailer.

Staying open would mean Maya being on site for 50+ hours per week on her own, going into winter with shorter days and with us being city centre this unfortunately didn't seem like a safe or viable option.

Although we are gutted to be temporarily closing our hatch, we have no plans to let this get the better of us. We will be back, bigger and stronger than ever as soon as it makes sense.

In the mean time we have a couple of ideas in the mix to keep you all fed in the coming weeks/months. We really hope to get you all involved in the decision making process for this and will be running some polls on our stories for the next 24 hours so please head over to them ASAP and give us your feedback 👊

This will be our last weekend until the 16th of October as Mark and I will be taking a much needed break. We have had this holiday booked since before covid made it big (🙃) and it looks like it might actually go ahead!

Mark hasn't had any time off in over a year, having worked all the way through lockdown, and as mush as we love this little business of ours its been a tough year getting going amongst all the madness. We are looking forward to charging our batteries and coming back stronger when we return! Thank you, as ever, for being the best. We are looking for somebody to join the alfalfa team.

This is a part time role at 15+ hours per week, with the looks to quickly develop this into a more full time position. We are looking for somebody with previous cooking experience but primarily sombody who would like to get involved with a young company to help create, learn and grow with us.

Pay will be hourly, fair and competitive dependent on experience. Candidate would preferably have a full UK drivers license but this is not essential. If you think this might be for you please get in touch via email at [email protected] 🌱
