Swipe to read my full Personal Mission Statement... 🤩
This statement represents the long term, high-level snapshot of my desired future state, and serves as my “Northern Star”.
Since writing it 2 years ago, I have referred back to it many times, to help me make difficult decisions in both my personal and my professional life.
In fact, I referred back to it as little as a few weeks ago to make another huge decision.
A huge decision that was made so much easier by knowing my values and purpose so clearly.
I'd love to know if any of this resonates, or whether you have your own personal mission statement in your life or your business?
This is your friendly reminder not to let real life pass you by this summer…
We’re over half way through the school holidays in this house, and things are being deprioritised on my to do list all over the place.
And I’m regularly reminding myself that that’s ok.
So I want to remind you too - if you can’t do everything you wanted to, know that it’s ok.
Nothing that bad will happen if you don’t do some of it, and a proper break and a rest is more productive.
Focus on the stuff you have to do, and the rest can wait until September!
After all, we didn’t leave our employed life to become our own worst boss.

I’m feeling generous, so I'm going to let you in on a little secret…
You don’t need to create new content every time you post.
That’s right!
If you’re constantly creating brand new content, you’re wasting a tonne of time that could be better used elsewhere in your business.
So repurpose your posts and save yourself time!
Next time you plan your content, take a look at your insights, check which posts performed well in the last 6-12 months and think about how you can repurpose them.
Because there are multiple ways to recreate what’s already in front of you!
You could turn a reel into a carousel, make a quote image from an old post, or just reuse your top-performing content.
And don’t worry about repeating yourself.
New followers won’t have seen it, and even your long-term followers won’t remember what you posted months, weeks or even days ago... and if they do, honestly, I'd take that as a compliment!
I'd love to know - is this something you already do, or is it something you’re definitely going to do now?
12 episodes and over 900 downloads later, and just like that, Season One of Show Up and Be Heard is done 🥳

In the meantime, I'm off for a rest, and will return with Season Two on 3rd September 💜⚡
Every school holidays, I see a lot of small business accounts, run by working Mums, apologising for not being present on their socials...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I get it, the pressure on Mums to be everything to everyone is everywhere, all the time 🫠
You always feel like you should be doing more; because juggling all of the balls, hustling and ‘having it all’ is worn like a badge of honour.
And so when you’re not doing that, it can feel like you’re not doing enough, or like you’re failing 🫣
But I don’t know about you, I chose to start working for myself so I could create a better life for me and for my family.
And part of that includes not feeling guilty that I work short days to be able to do the school run, and taking school holidays off to spend quality time with my kids 😍
Which is why I'm here to say, that I will be less present on my socials over the next few weeks, and I am absolutely not sorry.
Not even a little bit.
And you shouldn't be either!
Just tell people you won't be around as much, to manage their expectations about how to contact you and when they'll hear from you, but stop yourself before you get to the 'S' word.
The right people will understand, and anyone who doesn't is a big 🚩 in my opinion anyway, so they're no loss.
Drop a 🙋♀️ if you needed to hear this today!
I'll be honest July was bloody tough, but it also had moments of being so very beautiful...

I'd love to know how your July went, too?

Leaving this here for anyone who it might help right now.
Please feel free to share if you think it will help others too.
And try to remember that the world really is more beautiful than it is evil, even when it absolutely doesn’t feel like it ⚡️💜
Have you heard of the 'mere exposure effect'?
Depending how long you've been in my world, you may or may not know that a couple of years ago I took a course with The Two Laura's, and qualified in psychology driven social media marketing.
One of the things that I learned about was something called the 'mere exposure effect'.
And I wanted to tell you about it, because it's always a healthy reminder that showing up matters, even when it feels like you're screaming into the void!
In simple terms, the mere exposure effect means that people tend to favour things merely because of their familiarity with them.
Which means that the more consistent you are on your socials, the more you're reminding your audience that your business is open and very much active...
And that is only ever a good thing 🥰
By sharing content that is engaging and helps and tells people what you do, you are reminding them that your business is there to help, even if they don't need you there and then.
The magic comes when they do need what you offer, because you will be embedded in their brain as the go to person for that thing 🤩
I'd love to know whether being consistent on social media is on your goals for this year, or whether you're already smashing it?
Let me know in the comments below!
I share more tips just like this in my weekly emails 🥰

Feeling overwhelmed or triggered by certain posts?
Remember, you can unfollow or mute anyone who triggers negative emotions, or who makes Instagram a less enjoyable place for you to be.
Here’s how to mute someone without unfollowing them 👇
⚡ Go to the profile of who you want to mute
⚡ Hit the following/follow button, that is under their bio
⚡ Select 'Mute'
⚡ Turn on the toggle to mute their posts, stories, or both
⚡ Go back to enjoying a positive Instagram experience
And in case you are worried, unlike when you unfollow, muting is private - they won’t know and can still see your stuff and interact with your content.
I am passionate about boundaries and this is a huge one for me - muting people doesn't always mean I hate them - if I did, I'd likely unfollow!
The people I mute is almost always because of me, and nothing to do with them.
For example, seeing their content makes me react in a way that sends me down a rabbit hole, niggles at my insecurities or stops me from staying in my own lane.
And I really recommend you do the same - take control of your feed and create a positive space for yourself!
