Coming up we have our ‘Mission to the Marketplace’ event with speaker Carl Porter. This event is for those who are hold a conviction about making disciples in their place of work.
A little about Carl, over these last 10 years he has been actively involved in using his workplace for evangelism and discipleship and training others to do likewise. Carl has trained churches, groups, individuals and organisations both nationally and internationally in workplace evangelism and more recently has been developing a strategy for a city wide approach to releasing Christians to be access to the gospel in their workplaces.

Recently our leaders received a leadership conversation with Mike McGlynn, Location Pastor at Hillsong Liverpool. Mike spoke about discerning his call to ministry and stepping into it at Hillsong. He describes how this looked, the joy it brought but also some of the challenges. As well as being known for great praise and worship, attracting young people, and powerful gatherings, Mike reflects honestly on how this all has to be held in place of prayer and worship, especially given the storms that the church at large has been through over recent years.

Hillsong Liverpool

What a fantastic night was had at the second regular Merseyside Youth Prayer event (2nd February). This time hosted at Penny Lane Church. Youth led from the front, praying, sharing and prophesying over the city. "We saw many first time decisions and had a really joyful time in worship!" commented Dan Latham, Youth Pastor at Frontline Church.

Please continue to pray for a move of God amongst this generation. Please also pray for youth workers.

Our first CPC event (21st February) was brilliant, being able to launch something that has never been done before in our City Region. It was groundbreaking to be able to bring leaders from such a wide range of churchmanship and diverse backgrounds together in one room, to ask the question ‘Can we plant more churches, reach more people, and saturate our region with gospel impact, by working together rather than by going it alone or staying in our silos?’ There was an amazing atmosphere of trust and mutual respect in the room as well as a real sense of hope that we could saturate our City Region with missional expressions of church over the coming 10 years. We are excited to discern what the next steps might be as our CPC steering group meets to pray and plan.

Our Leaders recently heard a Leadership Conversation from Paul Brown where he shares his amazing story of how he came to faith after the Hillsborough Disaster and ended up in prison ministry leading hundreds of people to Christ. He inspires others by his love for the marginalised, his ability to press through disappointments, and persevere to find his true calling.

As we come into a new year, we encourage you to take up a new prayer. We are passionate about praying for those around us, and we want to make that as accessible for everyone to engage in. These resources help give structure and a starting point to allow you to feel more confident in starting to pray for others.

We are so excited to be joined by James Aladiran from Prayer Storm who will be leading us in short input times throughout the evening. The youth were excited and expectant and the atmosphere was super joy-filled. As a leader it was so encouraging to see our young people engaged, praying out for their schools and city. You could tell they felt empowered, and the Holy Spirit was resting heavily upon them.”

24-7 Prayer GB

During this busy festive time we are praying for all of the churches and church leaders in our City Region. We pray that as a united Church we can spread the true love and hope that Christmas brings and connect deeper into our communities. We are praying for all the nativities, carol services and Christingles, that it would be an opportunity for people to invite friends, neighbours, colleagues to a service and sow some seeds of who you are in their lives. We also pray for the practical logistics of running such events, especially during such a busy time.

We are very excited to be holding our first gathering for Church Planting in the New Year. It’s going to be on Wed 21st at Penny Lane Church, 9.30-16.00. This event is suitable for church planters and sending church leaders. It will be the first event of its kind in the City Region.

We believe that by sharing encouragement, good practice, and resources we can plant more churches over the next 10 years. We hope in time that we can begin to do this more collaboratively and therefore effectively. It’s been said that the best form of evangelism is church planting.

Imagine a day when the region is saturated with missional expressions of church, so that there is one for everyone thousand people in our region. Everyone would become aware of a gospel presence in their neighbourhood and know where to go to for practical help or to go on spiritual journey. We call this vision 1 in 1000.

We thought we would show you who is behind the work of TFH, this week we are introducing Hannah, who handles our communications. Keep an eye out in the weeks ahead to get to know other members of the TFH team.

Our friends over at Neighbourhood Prayer Network have recently updated their prayer maps. As well as including the registered churches (blue) and registered streets (yellow), the map now also includes reported crimes (black). This is to help guide us in how to pray for our local areas, to make our prayers more specific to the areas we live in and respond to the need shown.
Please consider using this resource to help guide your prayers for your communities. And if you haven't done so already, consider signing up to pray for your street, let's see how much of the city region we can cover with regular, intentional prayer.

Last Friday (10th November), youth from across the City Region gathered at Frontline Church, Wavertree for the first Merseyside Youth Prayer Night in collaboration with 24-7 Prayer GB .

The young people engaged in extended worship, a preach from Josh Green about the Gospel and prayer stations across the room. A massive thank you to Frontline Church Liverpool for hosting and Hillsong Liverpool for providing some fantastic worship leading!

Here is one youth leader’s reflections from the night:
“The event was amazing! The youth were excited and expectant and the atmosphere was super joy-filled. As a leader it was so encouraging to see our young people engaged, praying out for their schools and city. You could tell they felt empowered, and the Holy Spirit was resting heavily upon them.”

We are so excited to see how God is moving amongst our young people, we pray that those who came feel filled afresh with the Holy Spirit, and empowered to go out and evangelise with those around them.

There are currently 2 jobs being advertised in Walton Breck for Christ Church and Holy Trinity. One is for a food coordinator to manage pre-existing food insecurity projects, and the other is a split role: half food coordinating, half missional and pastoral to work with those 'on the edge'.

Christ Church & Holy Trinity, Walton Breck

We are so excited to have Josh Green from 24-7 Prayer Youth with us on Friday for the first Merseyside Youth Prayer Night!

Before becoming the Youth Director at 24-7 Prayer GB, Josh helped lead evangelistic mission bands preaching the gospel to thousands of young people around the world. In 2017 he helped plant Soulcity church in Stockport, and served on leadership there for 5 years. Josh also graduated from the University of Chester in 2021 after studying Theology.
He now lives in Manchester with his wife Emma, and their 3 children.

Josh is passionate about seeing revival in our next generations and helping our young people become beacons of fire burning for Jesus across our land.

Please pray for him as he travels over to us on Friday and as he prepares to speak, may he be able to discern what God wants to say to our youths.

Liverpool Youth for Christ host online and in-person gatherings (November's is in-person with festive food!) once a month for anyone connected to Youth Ministry. There's a mix of sharing, learning, encouragement, challenge, prayer. You'll meet great people on the Christian youth work journey. Paid or voluntary, brand new or been in youth work for years - ALL WELCOME!
