Carly and Adam's son, Lee, is working at YF part time over the summer after finishing his GCSEs. Here he is hard at work learning the ropes with his Dad!

As a part of the Rhinos family, we are deeply saddened to hear this news and send our thoughts and condolences to Lindsey and the rest of Rob’s family. The rugby community has lost one of its true greats at a devastatingly young age.

It is with deep sadness that the club can confirm that former player Rob Burrow CBE has passed away, aged 41.

Congratulations to our Works Manager, Mark Knowles, for completing the ILM recognised Essential Management training course with Howarth's Employment Law. He declined the photo opportunity but we are proud of him so decided to do a photo of his certificate instead!

Our building work is coming on leaps and bounds and phase 1 of the extension, which will enable us to expand our sewing room area and part of the factory, will soon be finished. Please see below for some photos of the gradual progress since the last update!

Our directors Elaine and Carly were at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday for Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria (which was amazing) and they were delighted to see that the acoustic domes made by our company in the 1980s are still going strong!

The earth is moving (quite literally!) here at Y F Furniture! We have been struggling with a lack of space for some time now, due to the sheer size of the large units we now manufacture. We considered moving but we love our old school building, so we decided to extend. Planning permission was granted last year and work started at the beginning of January. Progress may be slow as we obviously need to work at a pace that allows a minimum of disruption to both the production schedule and our finances, but we are very excited. Watch this space for updates…

This is our most recent project for KOMI Group, a digital media owner based in Manchester.

KOMI were looking for a sofa for 10 people, along with various other soft seating options including 2-seaters, 3-seaters and tub chairs to furnish their break-out areas and lounge, and our YF360 range along with YF313 tub chairs fitted the bill perfectly. The customer chose the stylish Primeira velvet range from Agua Fabrics Ltd for the upholstery. We think the finished result looks stunning - check them out below!

As promised, here are the photos from our retirement meal for Jean Moran last night. A great time was had by all!

Jean worked for us as a sewing machinist for an impressive 41 years (almost from the very beginning) before having to retire due to problems with her joints. In her words, ‘I would have worked til I was 90 if I could!’ We thank her for her many years of dedicated service and wish her a very happy retirement with her husband Peter.

Thanks also to Healds Hall for their great service and the beautiful meal (and Mark for playing waiter 🤣)

Our sewing machinist Jean retired this month after an impressive 41 years with the company. We are having a party for her on Friday evening, so a post dedicated to Jean and photos to follow! In the meantime, if anyone knows of any sewing machinists looking for work, please give us a holler!

Wishing the best of luck to our girl Sophie Robinson and the rest of the Leeds Rhinos ladies' team at the Women's Challenge Cup final tomorrow! Elaine and her grandson Lee are on their way to Wembley to support them. Do us proud girls!

Allow us to introduce our newest team member, Kieran Gardner. Kieran is our new Sales Administrator and has been with us for a month now. He is settling in extremely well and we feel he will be a great asset to the team. Adam continues to be the main contact for sales enquiries for now, but Kieran is learning quickly and we are sure he will be your first point of call within no time. We look forward to introducing him to our regular clients as time progresses.

Last week our Joint MD Carly joined the FB group 'Hightown Liversedge and Spen Valley Photos & Memories'. As our business is based in the old Millbridge School, she asked for any memories or photos people may have of the school. Many people came forward to share their memories, which was lovely. One lady said she had found some handwriting work in her parents' house when they renovated which had been done by a girl who attended the school in 1862! With her permission, we attach a photo below. How wonderful to see and what impressive handwriting for a child! If anyone else has any memories they wish to share we would love to hear them.
