We are in search for a person that can be responsible for managing the design and delivery of organisational development strategies for our charity and member organisations, spearheading their fundraising programmes and grant applications as well as providing additional information, advice and guidance as required.

The ODM helps to increase Kanlungan’s membership and organisational performance improvement, including service delivery and income generation/ sustainability. There will also be an attached human resources function expected in this role to support the new and existing staff.

We are seeking a Programme Manager to join Kanlungan and work alongside our partner organisations, the South East and East Asian Centre (SEEAC) in our work supporting East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) women and LGBTQ+ Migrants to prevent and address gender violence so they may thrive in their life in the UK. The aim is to support and enable ESEA migrants and refugees, especially those who are affected by violence in their home, at work and in the community, to understand their rights and develop a network to educate themselves around issues of gender-based violence. The programme will enable them to address these issues and improve their social condition.

Many aspects of mental health have been challenged; and already before the pandemic in 2019 an estimated one in eight people globally were living with a mental disorder.

Growing social and economic inequalities, protracted conflicts, violence and public health emergencies affect whole populations, threatening progress towards improved well-being; a staggering 84 million people worldwide were forcibly displaced during 2021.

We must strengthen mental health care so that the full spectrum of mental health needs is met through a community-based network of accessible, affordable and quality services and supports. (World Health Organization, WHO)

Kanlungan supports WHO through the free, community based and quality one-to-one and group mental health support we provide in the Filipino, East and Southeast Asian communities in the UK.

As migrants, we are more vulnerable in experiencing the effects of this economic decline. As much as we continue to fight for a space that puts people over profit, we should also protect ourselves by learning to safeguard ourselves from the cost of living crisis.

Kanlungan has been working with openDemocracy on an investigation into solicitors and people posing as solicitors charging vulnerable migrants thousands of pounds for bogus applications -- in some cases, leading to community members losing their status as a result of bad advice.
