The stAyTB is the first of our Special Projects & Collab bikes and consists of a frame, fork, bullmoose bars, day rack, wheels, headbadge and other bits and bobs all beautifully and somewhat singularly fillet brazed and fashioned in Leytonstone, East London.

Very much in reverence and homage to the best of 80’s offroad, All Terrain, ‘mountainbike’ style that gets us here at Stayer so stoked about handmade bikes and making stuff to ride for fun and to feel good.

Rare as hens teeth, filet of fish; a nice bike indeed and more than ample steed for the supermarket shred and the practicalities of being a cross country leg-end confined to the mortal realm of human cycling and just casually shredding the s**z out of nipping down the shops.

Sam was a brilliant teacher, made the process really easy to understand and fun along the way. It was great having just two students on the course it meant we had one to one tuition the whole time, which made it reassuring I was making a bike that was going to be made at the highest level and constructed to last. The small details and tips in measuring, jigging, brazing and finishing, I will take with me and use again and again.

I can’t recommend this course enough, for those with metal working experience or none, it’s a brilliant feeling to make and ride your own build.

From day one we received a lot of technical and safety information before we could start. The first exercises with the torch were daunting and fun at the same time. I came with 0 experience with brass welding and I was able to walk away with my own frame!

The whole week was really exciting with many laughs and a lot of hard work!

I’d highly suggest this course to any cyclist whose enjoy and appreciate handmade bikes and objects, and you’ll receive a very personal experience with the materials and the team at Stayer!

Now I’ve just finished building my new bike and this will be my forever bike, and one that I’ve made myself and know how hard and yet rewarding this feels!

They’re absolutely brilliant rims, we’ve had a few batches manufactured now and have been continuously impressed with the quality - so round ! so straight ! (😂 this may sound like a given but it is not at all so with alloy rims) so tough, and so easy to set up tubeless. And then on top of that I think we do an okay job building them up ;)

Morning all! Best wishes and good luck everyone for 2024! We are, with trepidation, embarking upon another year of Stayer. We very much appreciate everyone who supported us last year and forever. Everyone who has bought stuff sent stoke or been wildly understanding of our shortcomings.

As a workshop we have less capacity than we had a year ago, in part because we are a smaller team with more commitments outside of the bike and workshop world and in part because of an interest to have a more varied output and spend time on other stuff. The upshot is that our framework in particular will become more rare in 2024 but also in turn it will become more straight up custom, more specific and more unique. Our batches will still be the best way to get a Stayer as we can block out workshop time to build which makes our work more sustainable but as always we are here for a conversation if you want something different, out of batch or just want to know about what to do and how to go about placing an order. Email and request a call back and someone will give you a ring when we haven't got our head in a welding helmet.

We are chuffed to also be diversifying our work into teaching and growing our Framebuilding 101 course and wheel building workshops, offering more dates in 2024. There will only ever be limited availability as we can only accommodate a couple of builders at a time and only for a few weeks of the year but the testbeds have been the singular and life affirming undertaking of 2023 for us so we are stoked to continue and grow them and make more bikes with you in the workshop. Sharing the sweat and the success of making something for yourself. Frame and wheel building is an experience for sure and we are very happy to be able to share it in whatever way we can. Come and do a 101 course and get hands on with your next bike frame.

Ines and Simon of our second Testbed FRAMEBUILDING 101 course earlier this month. 🔥

We’ve now run both of our 101 week courses and welcomed four epic peeps with their projects into the STAYER workshop. Everyone went from little to no brazing or metalwork experience through the process of designing, learing to wield a gas torch and then building their own bike frame projects from scratch all with the help of the STAYER workshop expert building team.

Testbeds complete, we are now ready to roll in to the new year and offer some more course dates for your delectation. CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR DATES.
