The honesty of the long-distance runner Vitoria-based athlete Iván Fernández Anaya refused to take advantage when his rival stopped short of the finishing line in a cross-country race

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was only a few meters from the finish line but made a mistake on the signs and stopped, thinking he was done. BA's Spaniard, Ivan Fernandez, was walking right behind him and, realizing what was happening, started shouting at the Kenyan to keep running. Mutai did not know Spanish and did not understand.

Realizing what was happening, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory. The reporter asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied: "I dream that one day we will have some kind of social life in which we push ourselves and others to win."

The journalist insisted: "But why did you let the Kenyan win? Ivan replied: "I didn't let him win, he won. The race was his."

The reporter persisted and asked again: "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him and replied, "But what will be the meaning of my victory? What will be the value of this medal? What will my mother think of her? Values are passed down from generation to generation. What values do we teach our children?

Most of us take advantage of people's weaknesses instead of helping them build on their strengths.
