Our artistic programme featured ‘Reborn’ by , ‘Songs of Love, Death and Desire’ with , and ‘Human Nature’ with .finni .chapdelaine , welcoming over 2500 visitors to this site 💪 and we initiated a major new commission - the ‘Biodiversity Fingerprint’ - a project which saw create a monumental work to adorn the outside of the building, while William Joshua Templeton produced a poignant new film on this theme. 🌿🌸🌞

After an incredible journey in Camden, Proposition will soon vacate 100 and 100A Chalk Farm Road. While we are saddened to leave this vibrant space that has nurtured so much creativity, we are immensely proud of what we’ve achieved! 🌟

Over the past 18 months, we’ve not only transformed these disused buildings but also created 80+ affordable studios, housed 100+ artists, and built a thriving cultural hub. 💪 From free public exhibitions, open studios, music events and dynamic performances, our programme has been rich and varied - attracting over 2500 visitors - celebrating artistic practice in all its forms. 🎨🏛️✨🔉

We want to extend a HUGE, heartfelt thank you to the amazing artists, collectives, partners, and collaborators who have been part of our journey here. Your support has been invaluable, and we are filled with gratitude! 🙌💖🥹

🎉🎉🎉 We are very excited to announce our are launching a new ‘Kalos Eidos Skopeo’ in our gallery space next week! 🤩

This title is inspired by the ancient Greek origins of the word “kaleidoscope” — merging “kalos” (beauty), “eidos” (form), and “skopeo” (to look). 💪

First coined by Scottish inventor David Brewster in 1817, the kaleidoscope represents a world of infinite possibilities in colour, form, and design. ‘Kalos, Eidos, Skopeo’ embraces this idea, showcasing vibrant new works by 20 artists and designers 🎨✨, each offering their unique take on the kaleidoscope’s boundless potential.

Join us for the Private View on October 3rd, 6-9pm, with the show open to the public on October 4th, 5th, and 6th. 🥂

FILLE DE MON COEUR (Daughter of my Heart) explores the ‘essence’ of the famous idiosyncratic French writer Antonin Artaud (1896-1948) and his complicated relationship with French actress Colette Thomas. 🌟 Thomas was one of several women who was part of Artaud’s ‘daughters of the heart.’ Thomas was drawn to Artaud, like a moth to a flame, 🦋 vulnerable and yet completely engulfed by his methods of intense rehearsals.

This will be an emotive visceral immersive experience that explores through movement, poetry, and multimedia; the last five years of Artaud’s life from Rodez Asylum to his final moments at the Ivry-sur-Seine. Artaud spent his life subjected to many horrors; unable to have his ideas for cinema, theatre, art, or radio fully realised in performance – and yet despite his suffering, psychosis, and internment - he had an unwavering desire to continue living. 🌈

Expect a fusion of physical theatre, poetry, Shakespeare, mime, and multimedia. 🎭📜 The human behind the stereotype – the raw response through movement and at times the quiet ‘little celestial poet.’ 🌌

The Art of Suminagashi workshop was a joint initiative by our resident artist and , that promoted creativity as a cathartic tool for who feel invisible in today’s gender health gap. 🎨✨🙏

In July, twelve wonderful women were invited to meet in an open and intimate space at our 🦋and immerse themselves in the calming practice of Suminagashi (Japanese Marbling), led by , while sharing their stories and in the process. 🌊💬

The was a big success, with a lot of positive feedback from participants and coming soon...🙌💖

will also be directing a project on the Isle of Mull in Scotland in August, culminating in an open-lab workshop on the 10th. The project aims to measure the impact of mindful craft and creativity with the support of a specially programmed brain-computer interface that translates brainwaves into visuals. 🧠🎥👏

We’re super proud of our very own Studio Manager Siena who is currently undertaking an artistic residency over in ! 🌟🌍🫶

66 Fellows were selected from universities and institutions partnering with the . Siena will be working at the British Pavilion, invigilating the “Listening All Night to the Rain” exhibition by John Akomfrah, whilst exploring her own practice around the Biennial’s theme “Strangers Everywhere.” 🎨🏛️

Siena explained: “Venice is a place of flux with tension between locals and tourists, it sits in a precarious spot. All my grandparents emigrated to the UK in the 1950s. My proposal was to return to Italy, the country my family is from on my maternal side, and experience it now as an outsider.” 🇮🇹 .art.biennale

🗓️ When selecting the works for our latest our was a key factor in the choices we made… 🌍✨

For example, the banner displaying ’s artwork has a great . 💪 The textile used was created by taking waste plastic out of the environment to make yarn, which was then woven into rPET textile. The inks used have received the OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT. A gutter is installed to divert any rain runoff away from drains, preventing microparticles from being distributed into rivers and eventually the ocean. ♻️💧

All our decisions can make a BIG difference! Let’s all Reimagine. Educate. Act. 🌿🌍

Artists Katie Bret-Day and William Joshua Templeton, who were selected for our commission, began their residency with a Research & Development programme 📚🌿. This included receiving tuition from Satish Kumar (Founder of Schumacher College and previous Editor of Resurgence & Ecologist magazine for 40 years) 🌍📖, Colin Tudge (real food campaigner and science writer, author of The Secret Life of Trees) 🌳✍️, Martha Lewis (Head of Materials at Henning Larsen Architects), and Proposition Co-founder Daniel J Hudson.

They also visited Prof. Martin Wolfe’s Wakelyns Agroforestry Research Centre and Martin Crawford’s Forest Garden, two outstanding examples of increasing biodiversity through farming 🚜🌱. Curatorial guidance throughout the 6-week residency came from Alice Black, who sits on the Mayor of London’s Cultural Advisory Board, is Governor of the Museum of London, and is Proposition’s in-house artistic advisor 🎨🏛️.
