What is behind our bad habits?

Of course, I could start giving you practical tools right away. I have more than a dozen of them, and I will definitely share with you the most effective ones! But first we need to understand why our brain so much clings on to our bad habits.

So, here is a little theory:

Any habit consists of 3 parts - they are called the "loop habit".
⠀
A signal - is a trigger from the outside world that prompts you to take action. Example: a notification of a new message.

An action - this is your "bad habit", your habitual behavior. For example, it is pointless to browse the newsfeed every 15 minutes.

A reward is the benefit we get from this action. To continue the analogy with the news feed – the reward is getting new information.

The first exercise:

1) Identify a habit;
2) Analyse what prompts you to behave this way.
3) Figure out what kind of reward you end up with.
4) Now come up with some alternative behavior patterns;
