The MEDIUS Product Family: Reversible, Flexible, Agile

All our products in the Avensis MEDIUS family are fully reversible passenger-to-freighter solutions - giving airlines and lessors premium fleet management versatility and agility.

Avensis Aviation’s PTF designs have become a byword for forward-thinking innovation and this is, in part, due to the flexibility our solutions offer… as well as other unique-to-Avensis features.

The MEDIUS EVO, our new E-Commerce, express market, widebody conversion, continues in this tradition: the Class E cabin is retained but with an introduction of a cargo loading system (CLS) using custom unit load device (ULD) pallets. The solution speeds up loading and unloading times while retaining the ability for the aircraft operator to revert back to a customer configuration should demand change.

Our Passenger to E-Commerce Freighter (PTEF) conversion, MEDIUS EVO, has hit the aviation airwaves. We are enjoying seeing the press coverage of our new MEDIUS EVO PTEF solution: its reduced loading times to around 100 minutes compared with more than 250 minutes with the existing MEDIUS solution are certainly making headlines. Air Cargo News quoted our chief executive, Cristian Sutter, commenting on its features: “The Medius Evo conversion is agile, reversible and applicable to widebodied aircraft, allowing airlines to maximise their fleets through reduced turnaround times. By incorporating new cargo loading capabilities, cargo can be loaded and offloaded faster than ever.” Read full article: https://bit.ly/4bHKUIB Cargo Facts mention the “customer-driven evolution” of our MEDIUS reversible Class E cargo modification, “which uses customized, narrow pallets that fit through the passenger door of the A330.” Read full article: https://bit.ly/3T5TGc4 If you’re looking for more information on this evolution in our suite of PTF solutions, get in touch with the team technical specifications and bespoke advice for your operations: [email protected] *All loading times are subject to change, operational requirements, and local airport ground support. #AvensisAviation #ECommerceAviation #AirCargo #PassengerToFreighter #AviationNews

Avensis Aviation is built on pioneering design and continues to innovate - this time, our focus has turned to our reversible PTF solution, MEDIUS. This CLASS E freighter conversion is without a main cargo door - and we are the only PTF conversion specialists that have received EASA STC for both A330-200 and the 300 variants. We’re now announcing a new iteration of MEDIUS. This upgraded conversion solution will increase the current volume capacity available on our A330-200 & -300 MEDIUS conversions to support current market demands. The new MEDIUS will deliver increased capacity for high-volume and lightweight cargo to serve the needs of the express market. Avensis’ new solution will also decrease manual loading and unloading times. If you’re interested in how the MEDIUS upgrade can serve the needs of your cargo operations, book a call with our team. #A330 #Airbus #AircraftOperator #CargoConversion #Cargo

NAVIS Cargo Solution Launches with USC
NAVIS Cargo Solution Launches with USC A huge day here at Avensis as we announce an industry first: Air cargo operator USC GmbH - Universal Sky Carrier - has become the launch customer for our top-of-the-range conversion solution NAVIS, for their Airbus 340 300s and A340 600s aircraft fleet. Like our award-winning PTF solution MEDIUS, NAVIS is a full cargo conversion but with the additional features of a Main Deck Cargo Door and sophisticated cargo loading system. As the NAVIS embodiment gets underway, the aircraft will continue to generate revenue, flying cargo in the MEDIUS configuration. This scalability and adaptability are what our company’s solutions were designed to do: and we could not be more proud that we’ll soon see the first NAVIS fly in USC colours. www.USC.aero #AviationInnovation #AviationNews #PassengerToFreighter #CargoNews #CargoFactsLatam

Let’s champion some features included in our flagship PTF conversion, NAVIS. Our permanent conversion design includes the installation of a fully-electric Main Deck Cargo Loading System (CLS). This system, combined with two pallet or container positions in the forward section, left of the door, provides quicker TaT and better cargo loading balance as the loading sequence eliminates the need for using ballast in the cargo hold. If you’re an established cargo airline looking for a cost-effective, top-of-the-range PTF solution, we’d love to introduce you to more of NAVIS’ features. Reach out to the team for further details our benchmark PTF conversion NAVIS. #AviationInnovation #PassengerToFreighter #AirCargo #AirFreightNews #Tat

DHL Report takeaways
We read with interest DHL's 'Airfreight State of the Industry' published last month. Our takeaways: The prediction is that volume will experience flat growth in the first two quarters of 2023, but demand will recover in the year's second half. Global air freight capacity was up by 9.1% compared to January ‘22. Avensis' unique engineering design and product offering have a vital position within the sector to help meet this demand and we're excited that 2023 will see the completion of even more of Avensis' passenger-to-freighter conversions worldwide - bringing capacity, agility, and flexibility to a growing number of airlines' fleets. #AviationInnovation #PassengerToFreighter #AirCargo #AirFreightNews #DHL

Playing cupid... Air Freight Flower Power As Valentine’s Day approaches, flower-producing nations are poised to airfreight their posies worldwide. As the love bug bites bigger each year, operators must schedule extra freighter flights dedicated to flowers over and above their standard scheduled operations. Last year the flower shipment tonnage was up by 23% from 2021 with the majority of the seasonal demand for flowers coming from Kenya and El Salvador. According to Air Cargo News. And the flowers with power on the big day? The most popular floral freight are tulips, roses, carnations and chrysanthemums. While love might make the world go round, air cargo operators certainly give cupid a helping hand… or, indeed, wing. #valentinesday2023 #AirCargo #AirFreight #Flowers

Which aircraft will likely be popular for PTF conversion in the near future?
Which aircraft will likely be popular for PTF conversion in the near future? At the Aviation News’ Airline Economics Growth Frontier conference in Dublin last month, Avensis CEO, Cristian Sutter spoke on a panel discussing conversions, freighter aircraft, financing, and the general health of the cargo/air freight market. Here he explains the increasing role A320s will take in the PTF space - as 757 feedstock for conversion to freight is depleted - and the advantages of conversions on this aircraft. Did you attend the event? We’d be interested to hear your insights and takeaways, if so. #AirCargo #A321 #AEDublin23 #AviationConference #Boeing757

Avensis CEO, Cristian Sutter, was pleased to be part of a panel at @Aviation News’ Airline Economics Growth Frontier conference in Dublin last week. Attracting over 3,000 professionals, it's one of the world’s most comprehensive aviation finance and leasing conferences. Cristian was asked to contribute his thoughts to a panel discussing conversions, freighter aircraft, financing, and the general health of the cargo/air freight market. As the passenger-to-freighter market has grown, and more airlines are embracing the opportunities converted aircraft offer to diversify their revenue streams, Cris was asked whether belly cargo friendly aircraft like A350s could present a ‘threat’ to dedicated freighters or PTFs for cargo operations. His answer: "they are a complement to them, not a threat." Watch his complete response from the event - and, if you were in attendance, share what you found insightful about the panel’s conversation. Thanks to the moderator Yves Germeaux of ATOZ Tax Advisers Luxembourg and fellow panellists for their insights and company: Christian Mailly of Dr. Peters Group, Daniel Watson of Aero Capital Solutions, Maxim Straus of Cargolux Airlines, Simon Finn of MUFG and Yvonne Moynihan of Wizz Air #AirCargo #Freighters #GrowthFrontier #AviationConference #AviationNews

As any reindeer worth their salt will tell you, it’s imperative that air freight ‘antlers’ can fly in all meteorological conditions: where would Santa be if he could only fly when it’s not raining? Happily, Prime Air’s drone update will ensure it’s available to help him out, even in less clement conditions… Amazon’s next-generation delivery drone - the MK30 - will be lighter and smaller than the current drone (which will be making deliveries in Lockeford, CA.) The MK30’s increased range, expanded temperature tolerance, safety-critical features, and new capability to fly in light rain make it a more responsive and more functional upgrade. Whilst the reindeer have Christmas covered, consistent innovations in drone deliveries might bring this new tech mainstream more quickly than anticipated. http://bit.ly/3P0o8AG #AirCargo #DroneDeliveries #Amazon #eCommerce #ChristmasCargo

Medius on the move. One of the most exciting attributes of our MEDIUS conversion? The fact that the A330 PTF conversion kit is available to install at any MRO worldwide means the MEDIUS kit can come to you: or the MRO that suits you best with slot availability. Travelling with the kit will be a member of the Avensis team - providing onsite support to assist with and ensure the quality of the final conversion. Interested in adding greater capacity and flexibility to your cargo operations? Come and talk to our sales team about how MEDIUS can help you get on the move. #MRO #PassengerToFreighter #CargoSolutions #A330 #AviationDesign

Europe’s Busiest Air Freight Airports We love a round-up of what’s been moving and where in the cargo sector and with SImple Flying releasing figures last month around who’s handling the most freight, we couldn’t wait to dig into the detail. And the busiest airport might surprise you… along with the overall upward trend in tonnage handled in each of the busiest hubs. Despite not being even in the Top 20 largest cities by population, the busiest airport for air freight in Europe was Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany. In 2021 Frankfurt Airport handled 2,274,969 metric tons of cargo, an increase of 18.8% compared to 2020. In second place was Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in France. In 2021 Charles de Gaulle Airport handled 2,062,433 metric tons of cargo, an increase of 18.1% compared to 2020. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) in the Netherlands comes in third. During 2021 Amsterdam Airport Schiphol handled 1,680,584 metric tons of cargo, an increase of 15.4% compared to 2020. https://simpleflying.com/asia-europe-north-america-busiest-cargo-airports/ Have you run operations in any of the top three airports? We all have ‘that’ figure, usually met early in our careers - someone who inspires you, supports your growth and learning, someone whose mentorship is a game-changer. For our CEO, Cristian Sutter, despite the gender imbalance in aviation, those crucial career encounters were with women. Witnessing the uneven playing field, which has still yet to be levelled out, motivated Cristian to take on the role of IAWA Advocate - the first in Europe - earlier this year. Using male advocates to drive women and diversity (in aviation), “sounds counterintuitive,” says Cristian. “But we can use our position now to drive the agenda of removing the blockers and become enablers in paving the way.” Check out this fascinating article from Aerotime News for more about Cristian’s experiences starting out in aviation. And those of Avensis’ engineer, Claire Richardson - and why they’re both keen to help drive equality in the aviation industry. It’s always great to see the Avensis team enthusing about the things that inspire them both personally and professionally and in a recent interview with Aerohub our Aerospace Design Engineer, Claire Richardson, had the opportunity to share why she believes STEM subjects are so important and how her passion for engineering was born from studying them at school. Listen to her thoughts here. As an advocate for IAWA, Cristian Sutter, our CEO, is committed to supporting pathways for women into aviation - in the full interview you can also get his take on why this role is so important for him personally. MEDIUS ELEV - WE, QUITE LITERALLY, HAVE LIFT OFF We’re delighted to be at the Cargo Facts Symposium as we announce a game-changing conversion solution to sit within our conversion portfolio: the MEDIUS ELEV… This solution revolutionises the freighter conversion market as it’s the first of its kind to feature built-in forward and aft lifts on the main deck floor. With the ability to lift and lower pallets and containers up to 2.2 tonnes, the MEDIUS ELEV is a powerhouse: reducing your loading time, yet increasing the potential cargo variety of your aircraft and optimising your TAT (turn-around-time)… all without the need for a cargo door. Sitting sleekly flush with the lower deck floor, the lifts’ operating system is contained completely under the deck, making it an efficient and integrated solution to the problem of loading / unloading palletised and containerised freight. As an organisation we want to stay responsive and agile, hence the design innovations we explore to serve our clients' needs. This agility also characterises our MEDIUS PTF family of conversions as they’re fully reversible and scalable. The MEDIUS ELEV shares its design and engineering with the MEDIUS Class E freighter, but scales up its functionality with our pioneering lift design. Watch the ELEV system in action and you’ll realise why we’re so excited to bring this new conversion solution to market - and find us at the Cargo Facts Symposium to chat about the role it could play in your fleet. Our team's also on hand if you'd like more information about our newest innovation - or any other of the five PTF conversion products in the Avensis family. www.avensisaviation.com/medius-elev #CargoFacts #CFSymposium22 #AviationNews #MEDIUSELEV #AviationEngineering

Documentation video (1).mp4
Let's talk paperwork. The true Av Geeks in the room will rightly be keen to get their hands on the documentation we supply with our conversions. The data stack details everything you would need to know to keep a converted aircraft in the air, right down to the nuts and bolts. We often talk about our products affording an aircraft increased longevity and functionality as it morphs from a passenger carrier to freighter. But this change of use - and improved usefulness - wouldn’t mean much if we left our clients to manage their aircraft’s longevity alone. As part of our service, we help our partners ensure their fleet remains airworthy and their engineers and service teams are informed of the new technology within the aircraft they maintain. With all of our conversions, our clients can be reassured by the provision of all documentation, data lists, approvals and operator manuals required to keep the fleet flying. Not only that, our design team and project managers work closely with the build on the ground, sharing our knowledge and expertise as the conversions unfold. For more detail about our passenger to freighter conversions, reach out to our team today - We love to chat specifics! (Secret: we’re Av Geeks too.) #EASA #Airworthiness #PTF #AirCargo #CAA

‘Game-Changing Conversion Solution’ Our STC has hit the headlines. And we’ve seen our unique MEDIUS solution described in a number of ways over the past week. We best describe MEDIUS as an agile, flexible and scalable PTF conversion solution, that is the first of its kind. Fully replacing the passenger cabin with a Class E (or Class F) Cargo Compartment, without a main deck cargo door. The award of the STC from EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency makes Avensis the only licensed and approved supplier of advanced PTF technology at this scale.
