Our lovely patient attended with a chipped tooth. This tooth had been like this for several years. Different options were discussed and in the end, bonding was advised as the best option to restore the broken tooth to make it look natural.

☀️☀️☀️Summer time ☀️☀️☀️
The time of year I personally like to top up my whitening using home whitening treatment for a brighter yet natural looking smile.
Healthy stable mouths can benefit from that extra boost whitening brings by lifting the shade of our natural enamel.
Home whitening will usually give us up to 4 shades lighter & brighter teeth.
Here are a few products & tips to help you achieve that summer time glow!
- [ ] *Always ensure you have trays made professionally with your dental clinician. They must fit your exact mouth & anatomy. It is so important to carry out whitening safely and protect areas of the mouth that won’t tolerate the whitening gel.
- [ ] *Always store your trays & gel in a dry safe place away from children & pets. Check your gel is in date before use as they do expire.
- [ ] *30 mins before & after whitening I like to use a sensitive toothpaste. I gently smear a thin layer of paste with my finger across all my teeth. I then don’t rinse with water or eat or drink to help desensitise & prepare my teeth for whitening.
- [ ] *Follow instructions and guidelines from your dental professional to carry out the correct method of home whitening. If you have forgotten, drop us an email and we will send a demonstration video for you.
- [ ] *After I have completed my whitening and removed my trays I rinse my tray with cold water only. I brush both my teeth and trays gently with a soft dry brush to remove any remaining gel.
- [ ] *I like to keep my trays clean by using a retainer cleaner as this means I can reuse my tray for years to come.

- A short sharp pain arising from a certain stimuli, for example hot or cold

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆?
- Gum recession as a result of Gum Disease, meaning roots of the teeth are exposed
- Brushing too hard which wears away the enamel or gum
- Enamel wear as a result of acidic diets
- Tooth decay, cracked tooth/filling
- Tooth grinding which has worn enamel away

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?
- Brush your teeth x2 daily with a Fluoride toothpaste containing at least 1350ppm of fluoride and ensure flossing or interdental brushes are used daily
- If using a manual toothbrush, avoid scrubbing, use small circular movements when brushing
- Don’t rinse with water or mouthwash after brushing
- Change your toothbrush or toothbrush head every 2-3 months - sooner if it becomes easily worn
- Avoid brushing straight after eating - wait at least an hour
- Try to eat sugary/acidic food or drink at meal times only
- If you grind your teeth, see your dentist about whether you should have a night guard made

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗧/𝗛𝗬𝗚𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧!

1️⃣What should I use to brush my baby’s teeth?
While baby is still very young and only has one or two little baby teeth, a muslin type of cloth can be used to clean the teeth.
As they get older and a few more teeth start to appear, it is a good idea to buy them a nice toothbrush.

2️⃣Are electrical toothbrushes any good for children?
We would only advise buying an electrical toothbrush for a slightly older child, older than 8 years old, who has already been brushing their teeth on their own for a little while.

3️⃣What is the best position for me to be in to brush my baby’s teeth?
We would advise kneeling in front of your baby. Place the toothbrush in their hand once they are old enough to grip the toothbrush. Then use your hand to guide the tooth brush over the teeth.

4️⃣How do I brush my baby’s teeth?
We always advise using a systematic routine approach for tooth brushing, for both adults and children. Pick your routine for brushing the teeth and stick with the same routine every time you brush your baby’s teeth. Brush in a small circular motions, doing 2 small circles per tooth.

5️⃣How do I avoid decay in my baby’s teeth?
- Regular brushing, twice a day, to help remove plaque from the teeth
- Brushing with a fluoride toothpaste (check the concentration is suitable for your child)
- A good diet which is free of sugary foods
- Avoiding sugary drinks, especially in baby’s bottle
- If you are in an area where there is no fluoride in the water, it may be an idea for baby to take fluoride supplements. This is something you would need to discuss with your dentist.
