It’s PCOS Awareness Month.

Did you know? Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) affects an estimated 8–13% of reproductive-aged women, yet up to 70% of affected women remain undiagnosed worldwide. PCOS is the most common cause of anovulation and a leading cause of infertility.

PCOS isn’t diagnosed by just one test. Instead, doctors use a combination of criteria to make a diagnosis. You need to meet at least two out of three specific conditions to be diagnosed with PCOS.

PCOS doesn’t always mean you will be infertile but it can make it difficult. If you have PCOS or think you might, we are here for you every step of the way.

At Care Fertility, we're committed to supporting everyone on their journey to parenthood—including those affected by PCOS. Understanding PCOS is the first step toward managing it and achieving your dreams.

Head to our latest blog that delves into understanding PCOS, its impact on fertility, and how tailored treatment can help - link in bio.

The two-week wait - when 14 days can feel like a lifetime.

The two-week wait is the time between your embryo transfer or insemination and the day you can take a pregnancy test. And we aren’t exaggerating when we say, it can feel like the longest stretch in your fertility journey or even in your life!

It’s a mix of excitement about the possibility of pregnancy and nerves about what the test will show.

Here are just a few ideas of how to cope during your two week wait:

- Stay busy: Distract yourself with activities you enjoy—whether it’s a good book, spending time with loved ones, or trying out a new hobby.

- Take care of yourself: Practice self-care that makes you feel good, whether it’s a relaxing bath, yoga, a gentle walk in nature or simply taking time to unwind.

- Limit Dr. Google: Googling symptoms or reading others’ stories can amp up anxiety. Trust your doctor and try to stay off the internet.

- Lean on support: Share your feelings with friends, family, or a support group. Talking it out can ease the burden and make you feel less alone.

- Treat your body like you’re pregnant: Avoid alcohol, caffeine, high intensity workouts and anything else that might not be pregnancy friendly. Think of it as nurturing your body for the best possible outcome.

How did you find the TWW? Is there anything you did that helped that we’ve missed?

Share your experience of the two week wait in the comments and it might just help someone who is going through it.

July is Fibroid Awareness Month!

Fibroids are a common concern for many women, particularly those who are considering starting a family. In some cases, fibroids can lead to reproductive issues, including infertility, miscarriage, and complications during pregnancy and labour.

Although fibroids can pose challenges to fertility, with the right diagnosis and treatment, many people successfully conceive and have healthy pregnancies.

At Care Fertility we offer a range of treatment options available for fibroids, ranging from medication to surgery. The best approach depends on the severity of the symptoms, the size and location of the fibroids, and your reproductive goals.

If you're struggling to conceive and are worried about fibroids, our latest blog offers a comprehensive guide to things to look out for, the diagnosis and treatment options.

Empower yourself with knowledge and take control of your fertility journey this Fibroid Awareness Month.

What is shared motherhood?

At Care Fertility, we believe in empowering our clients. Shared motherhood is an inclusive option that respects and celebrates the unique dynamics of same-sex female couples, allowing both partners to be equally involved in creating their family.

Shared motherhood is when one partner provides the egg, and the other carries the pregnancy. This means both partners play an active role in the pregnancy, physically and emotionally.

Jenna and Lydia opted for shared motherhood with Care Fertility and according to them “both girls are thriving and ganging up on their mummies.”

Our team of fertility specialists, nurses, midwives, counsellors, and support staff will be with you every step of the way from the initial consultation, through egg retrieval and fertilisation to embryo transfer and beyond.

We are committed to providing compassionate, expert care to ensure you feel supported throughout the process.

🚨 Important Update for Fertility Patients 🚨

The UK now allows storing frozen eggs, s***m, and embryos for up to 55 years thanks to a law update in July 2022. However, renewing your consent every 10 years is crucial.

If you have consented to store your eggs, s***m or embryos at any clinic and this consent is due to expire before 30th June 2024, you need to renew your consent before this date.

Clinics will be required to remove unrenewed samples from storage.

Check with your clinic if you haven't renewed yet - find your local Care Fertility clinic's contact details here - https://www.carefertility.com/fertility-clinics/.

This affects all UK fertility clinics, not just Care Fertility! Please help us spread the word - share with anyone you think might be affected by the change.
