🚨 It's been an incredible Know Exactly Where week! 🚨 Emergency services across the UK have been highlighting the vital importance of knowing exactly where emergencies are happening.

We're thrilled to see so many fire, police, and ambulance services encouraging the public to use what3words in times of need. Here's a second roundup of some of the posts from this week.

George, an insurance Sales Manager from Bristol, was looking forward to his trip to Dartmoor in April last year. On a beautiful spring day, he, his cousin Alex, and some friends set off from Okehampton. About 7 miles into their hike, near Great Links Tor, George decided to climb higher. Unfortunately, he slipped, fell about 10 feet into a gully, and broke his tibia and fibula.

Realising the severity of the situation, his cousin and friends called 999. Alex managed to reach the dispatcher and explain the emergency. The call handler asked for their what3words address, which Alex had downloaded just two weeks earlier. He provided the location: ///unloading.relatives.drape. The air ambulance arrived within 20 minutes, much to George's relief.

A year later, George is fully functional and enjoys daily walks, gym sessions, spinning classes, swimming, and hiking. He plans to do a charity walk along the Two Moors Way in Dartmoor to raise money for Air Ambulance.

Since the accident, George has encouraged friends and family to download the what3words app, emphasising its importance for emergencies. He highly recommends it.

Martin (Martin Ralfe - Blind & Techie) lives in Merseyside with his wife Samantha and 2 kids. He was born blind and navigates life with his cane, guide dog, Diesel, and accessibility tools.

One cold, sleety night in December 2023, Martin and his dad faced a terrifying ordeal. Driving cautiously on icy roads, their car slipped, rolled multiple times, and landed in water. Both were knocked out on impact.

When Martin regained consciousness, he realised their precarious situation. With the passenger side submerged, he quickly called for help and used what3words. Sharing their precise location, ///verge.hubcaps.yoga, the dispatcher sent help within 15 minutes.

"Without what3words, we might not have been found," Martin said. Now, he passionately advocates for what3words, adding it to his email signature and encouraging everyone to download the app. This life-saving tool proved its worth that night, and Martin wants others to know it could save their lives too.
