Building a New World - Key Stage 2 School Workshops.
We are pleased to announce various remaining spaces for our Built Environment Trust workshops. Please register your interest or book an available date via our website: https://pulse.ly/b5ysw3m9dz
These Built Environment Trust workshops explore new and exciting materials that are making construction more sustainable. Pupils will analyse and investigate natural and sometimes surprising building materials including food and fashion waste, mycelium (root system of fungi!) and more, to explore how they can be used to create an eco-friendly urban environment.
The sessions lasts for 1 hour and include building on skills such as:
Comparing, contrasting. experimenting and communicating.
During these workshops, there's a strong focus on pupils using their own creativity and imagination to solve real world problems. With links to the Science and Geography curriculum, the session also crosses subjects like Maths, D&T, English and Art.
Please note, we are able to deliver these workshops to several Greater London schools that are unable to make the journey to the Building Centre. Please include this in your enquiry.

Entry is simple – tell us your favourite local landmark in the comments section of our Instagram account - that’s it!
What is a local landmark? It can be anything you see regularly, or anything that means something to you. Perhaps it’s your local bus stop? Or a tree in a park? The built environment around us is huge, so have a good look, and let us know in the comments below.
BONUS! For an extra entry, send us a sketch of your local landmark. If we receive your drawing in time, there might even be a chance to display this as part of our exhibition.

Retrofit 24 - The Reuse Agenda for our Commercial, Cultural and Civic buildings.
Our building is a welcoming public space, situated on Store street, nestled between Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia - plan your visit today.
Did you know the Building Centre, home of the Built Environment Trust, is a public space?
Between 9am - 6pm, monday to friday, you're welcome to come and wander our free exhibitions, peruse our product galleries, or use the cafe.
It's a purpose that, Frank Yerbury, set in 1931 - “The basis of the Centre must always be an Exhibition of Materials and the policy should be that only such things are shown are of value to the building industry and the public…”
Since then, the Building Centre continues to provide value with regular gallery exhibitions, online articles and talks continue to open up conversations about the important subjects of sustainability, retrofitting, climate change and the impact that the construction industry has had on our carbon footprint.
It also continues to highlight new, innovative materials and techniques that will transform the way the built environment develops. But it's more than that, it's a public space to meet and discover all things built environment.
Have you visited the Building Centre recently? Let us know in the comments below.
