Future Farmers

Farmers are looking for more workers, so if fancy ditching the laptop and getting your hands dirty then read on.. We will match you up with a farming business that is looking for help. You will spend the day learning how the farm works and getting involved. We will cover the cost of your travel to and from the farm and you will be provided with lunch. You will need to be prepared to work a full day standing and of course to get muddy! The date will be determined by the farm to fit in with suitable work. You probably won't get to drive a tractor; just to avoid any disappointment.

To apply for one of a limited number of places please email [email protected] with 'Future Farmer' as the subject of your email and tell us:

- Your name
- Your post code (to help us match you to your nearest suitable farm)
- Type of farming that most interests you (e.g. fruit, vegetable, livestock, dairy etc.)
- If you have plans for a rural food business of your own and are looking for premises
or land to farm then let us know.

To continue trading in Pimlico Road the farmers market is required to obtain new planning permission. Westminster Council requires markets to do this every 5 years as they cannot permit permanent use of the Highway. We are not requesting to change anything at the market just to continue with the same great quality stalls every week but we need your support to ensure the Council know how essential the farmers market is to the area. You have told us how important the market is to you and how it was a life saver during the pandemic. We believe the market is a catalyst for footfall in the area which benefits the surrounding businesses and fosters a sense of community where people can meet their neighbours every week. Do we all want to live in a world where the only choice in cities for food shopping is online or supermarkets?

Let them eat turnips

There’s been plenty of news about empty shelves in supermarkets but who wants to eat out of season cucumbers when there’s turnips to be had at your local farmers market! And obviously not just turnips, there’s piles of delicious winter vegetables, apples and much more waiting for you. Ditch the supermarket this weekend and come and eat the seasons.

The last market of the year will take place on Christmas Eve, 24th December, finishing an hour earlier at 1pm. Place your Christmas orders now. Beatbush Farm, Castlemead Poutry, Duck Lane Farm, Galileo Farm, South Downs Game ( 10th December only) & The Cotswold Pantry Co (3rd & 17th December) will be delighted to discuss your Christmas order requirements with you. Organic and free range Christmas birds, joints, three-bird roasts, game pies, gammons, pigs in blankets and more.

Ella hand makes babkas and for Christmas she's making beautiful Christmas Babkas (photo above) rose, dates, flaked almond and cinnamon with a vanilla and caramelised orange glaze.
