Our Howden Grassroots Heroes winner has been announced!

After much anticipation, we’re thrilled to award 1st place to Lianne Bruce from Basically Cheer CIC, nominated by Lindsay Dunn.

Congratulations, Lianne – your club has won £500 to help support the incredible work you do. We are proud to celebrate your commitment to grassroots sports and the positive impact you make in your community.

But that’s not all! We’re also pleased to recognise our runners-up: Head Coach Roger Smith at Verulam Angling Club, nominated by Mark Jones, and Outgoing Chair, Dave Reeves of Cirencester Rugby Club, nominated by Martin Woodward. These two clubs will receive £250, and we’re excited to see how these funds will contribute to their ongoing efforts in grassroots sports development.

Toni Shaw, a British Paralympic swimmer, has achieved some remarkable accomplishments in para-swimming. From setting world records in the 200m butterfly and medley relay to winning bronze at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, Toni’s journey is truly inspiring. She also clinched gold at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, earning the title of World Champion.
