Happy as spring is in full effect and summer is around the corner - have you been working on the garden?

The UN states "Bees and other pollinators, such as butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities. Pollination is, however, a fundamental process for the survival of our ecosystems.

Here are a few tips to help encourage bees into your garden:

1.Create a wildlife garden (this is also a great project to do with the kids too)
2. Plant bee-friendly plants
3. Grow bee-friendly container displays
4. Don't mow your lawn for a while
5. Splash out on the perfect home for bees - Get your own beehive to encourage them to stay.
6. Build a bug hotel - One habitat you can provide is an insect or bug hotel โ€“ a layered structure of gaps and crevices to provide a home for lots of different types of mini-beasts, such as ladybirds, bees, spiders and woodlice. It's a safe space for these insects to lay their eggs, raise their young and shelter from predators. It's also a great way to teach the children about nature.

What are your favourite Bee friendly plants?

Do you have plants in your kitchen?

Adding plants to your kitchen not only enhances its aesthetics but also provides several practical benefits, like purifying the air and adding a touch of nature to your cooking space. Here are some top plants that thrive in kitchen environments:

1. Herbs: Herbs like basil, mint, parsley, coriander and rosemary are excellent choices for a kitchen. They not only add fresh flavors to your dishes but also thrive in the warm and sunny conditions typically found in kitchens.

2. Succulents: Succulents are low-maintenance plants that can add a modern touch to your kitchen. They come in various shapes and sizes, making them perfect for small spaces or windowsills.

3. Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is not only a beautiful plant but also has medicinal properties. It requires minimal care and can thrive in the bright, indirect light often found in kitchens.

4. Spider Plant: Spider plants are known for their air-purifying qualities and are easy to care for. They can tolerate a wide range of light conditions, making them suitable for kitchens with varying levels of natural light.

5. Pothos: Pothos plants are known for their trailing vines and are excellent for adding greenery to shelves or hanging baskets in the kitchen. They thrive in low to moderate light conditions and are relatively low maintenance.

6. Peace Lily: Peace lilies are known for their elegant white flowers and ability to purify the air. They prefer moderate to low light conditions, making them ideal for kitchens with less natural light.

7. Chives: Chives are a type of herb that not only adds flavor to your dishes but also produces delicate purple flowers. They require minimal care and can be grown indoors on a sunny windowsill.

8. Lemon Balm: Lemon balm is a fragrant herb that adds a refreshing citrus scent to your kitchen. It thrives in bright, indirect light and can be grown in pots or hanging baskets.

Remember to consider factors like the amount of natural light available in your kitchen, as well as your ability to care for the plants when selecting the right ones for your space.

Do you or a family member suffer from asthma? Did you know there are things you can to around the home to help alleviate any symptoms or issues. Letโ€™s talk Asthma friendly homes for .

Limit wall-to-wall carpeting & Reduce Upholstered Furniture.
Whilst carpet & Upholstered furniture is great for creating a nice warm, cosy surface for playing, sitting or just walking around on โ€“ however it acts as a breeding ground for microscopic flakes of skin that naturally fall off our bodies during the course of a typical day.

This may sound like no big deal, especially considering you cannot see these flakes of skin. But, if you have allergies to dust mites, it is a big deal. Their waste can become airborne air, and they contain a protein that can trigger allergy and asthma attacks. So by illuminating the environment they thrive in, you can reduce the reaction.

Alternative flooring options:
โ€ข Wood Flooring
โ€ข Tiling
โ€ข Vinyl

Alternative furniture materials:
โ€ข Wood
โ€ข Vinyl
โ€ข Plastic
โ€ข Leather
โ€ข Faux leather

Avoid wood Stoves and Fireplaces:
Thereโ€™s two reasons for not using wood burning stoves to heat your home with an asthma sufferer in the house.
1. The Wood used for burning, when stored can contain outdoor allergens and mould spores.
2. Wood burning can cause chemical reactions releasing chemicals and other airway irritants into the air that you breathe. This can be a serious asthma trigger, and it can also make asthma worse in general and harder to control.

Alternatives;
Central Heating Systems: These offer both warn & air filtering, keeping it free from potential asthma triggers and allergens.

Central cooling systems : As the air gets warmer in Spring/Summer it hold more humidity. Humid air tends to be heavier, and harder to inhale. It also creates a nice breeding ground for both dust mites and mould spores โ€“ which are all triggers for asthma. By adding in a central cooling system this can limit the humidity in the home, reducing the risks. You can also add a dehumidifier unit if central cooling is not a viable option.

What is your go to Spring cleaning product or task?๐Ÿชฃ๐Ÿงฝ

Spring has finally arrived in South West London. Here's our handy Spring cleaning checklist to get you started:

Make a Plan: Start by making a checklist of all the areas in your home that need cleaning. This will help you stay organised and focused.

Declutter: Before you start cleaning, declutter each room by getting rid of items you no longer need or use. Donate, recycle, or discard items accordingly.

Dust from Top to Bottom: Begin by dusting ceiling fans, light fixtures, and top shelves. Work your way down to furniture, baseboards, and finally, floors. Use a microfibre cloth or duster to trap dust effectively.

Wash Windows and Screens: Clean windows inside and out using a glass cleaner or a solution of water and vinegar. Don't forget to wipe down window screens as well.

Clean Upholstery and Carpets: Vacuum upholstery and carpets thoroughly, and consider steam cleaning for a deeper clean. Spot-treat any stains as needed.

Scrub Surfaces: Wipe down countertops, tables, and other surfaces with a gentle cleaner. Pay attention to high-touch areas like doorknobs, light switches, and remote controls.

Deep Clean Appliances: Clean out the refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Remove shelves and drawers for a more thorough clean. Run a cleaning cycle in your dishwasher and washing machine.

Freshen up Fabrics: Wash curtains, pillow covers, and throws according to their care instructions. Air out mattresses and cushions to eliminate any odours.

Organise Storage Spaces: Tidy up closets, cabinets, and drawers. Consider using storage bins or organizers to keep items neat and accessible.

Don't Forget the Outdoors: Sweep or power wash outdoor spaces like patios, decks, and paths. Trim bushes and trees, and clean out gutters if needed.

Change Filters: Replace air filters in your HVAC system to improve air quality and efficiency.

Finish with a Pleasant Scent: After cleaning, add a fresh scent to your home with candles, diffusers, or potpourri. Alternatively, you can simply open windows to let in some fresh air.

Bathroom trends: Backlit Vanity Mirrors.

In the past year we've installed many backlit mirrors during bathroom renovations.

Backlit Mirrors feature built-in LED lighting around the perimeter of the mirror, providing even illumination without casting shadows. This option offers a modern and sleek look while offering ample light for grooming tasks.
