If you are catching up on the must-sees of the past year, why not pick up Nomadland by Jessica Bruder? We're great fans of the weird and wonderful in this shop, and if there is a book that fits that bill, it's Bear by Marian Engel. First published in the 70's, it tells the story of a lonely librarian and her, well, quite intimate relationship with a bear. It has been called "the most controversial novel ever written in Canada", and we can guarantee it's like nothing you have ever read before. Our Story
Located in the heart of beautiful Notting Hill, minutes from the vibrant Portobello Market is the world famous Notting Hill Bookshop. The store opened in 1979 and originally specialised in travel books only. In 2011 the shop opened up to a wider audience and broadened its stock to cover most areas of publishing while still maintaining a sizeable travel section. These days we concentrate on beautiful gift editions, irresistible pocket hardbacks, satin-bound classics and a wide range of golden gilt leather-bounds.
In 1999 the bookshop became famous after its interior had been copied in the Notting Hill film featuring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. Ever since the premiere we've enjoyed visits from thousands of fans of the film coming from all over the world.
