Phonica ventures down to South London for its 123rd mix in its long running series.
Leila Beesley also known by everyone as Chinese Daughter has been stretching the sounds of original, new, and future jungle records alongside the sounds of bass-lead old school rave, future hardcore, and breaks. While also working behind the scenes at Warp records, taking to her regular show on Rinse FM and repping the Swamp 81 crew; you can also find Beesley at parties all over the UK and further afield(not forgetting her smashing set at our 20th anniversary at fabric last year). The set she has supplied for us here is no different. Mixed on all vinyl Chinese Daughter here showcases a broad spectrum of 2010’s bass gold, kicking drums and party going anthems all built together in a beautifully seamless narrative. SYLVESTER - Live At The Opera House (The Complete Recordings) LP (CRAFT RECORDINGS)
Live At the Opera House is the first-ever full release of Sylvester’s iconic 1979 concert at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House, previously available only as heavily edited excerpts. The album features 13 unedited songs from the performance, plus a recording of the mid-concert ceremony where Sylvester was awarded the key to San Francisco, culminating in over an hour of previously unreleased music and a total runtime of over 2 hours.

Majestic is a deep house gem by Chez Damier & Ben Vedren. Packed with rich percussion, a driving bass and emotion, this release includes both a club mix and a dub mix. On Yoyaku's ecclectic YYK No label series that previously welcomed artists like Laurent Garnier, Chris Korda, or Roger Gerressen, this 12" is another absolute gem added to the roster! .fr .damier

NALA SINEPHRO - Endlessness LP/CD (WARP)
Out tomorrow: Nala Sinephro’s sophomore album, titled Endlessness, expands her scope from the inward journey of Space 1.8 into widescreen orchestral ambient jazz compositions. Consisting of 10 tracks, the music was composed, produced, mixed and recorded by Nala Sinephro and includes contributions from James Mollison (Ezra Collective), Morgan Simpson (black midi), Sheila Maurice-Grey (Kokoroko), Nubya Garcia, Lyle Barton, Natcyet Wakili (Sons of Kemet) and Dwayne Kilvington (Wonky Logic). Artwork features a painting by Daniela Yohannes and design by Maziyar Pahlevan. Vinyl edition comes with an etching on side D.

The EP starts with "Do It to Me," featuring a groovy bassline and vocal combination that transforms into a Giorgio Moroder-style dancefloor weapon. Next, "Short Changed" offers a dubbed-out version of a Paradise classic, with added House punch and Italo sauce. On the flip, "More Thrills" adds to the drama with an uplifting vocal, whilst wild panning percussion keeps things interesting. The EP finishes with a Patrick Swayze dedication, taking an 80's classic directly to the Balearics.

Balearic Jukebox grabs the Spacemen 3 classic for a dancefloor ready edit alongside paying homage to another favourite which is 'Loaded' by using the same Eddie Brickell drum sample to create a laid back sunshine groove.

A DJ whose taste stretches the realms of Nu Beat, Afro, Cosmic, Disco, House and funky Techno; we are delighted to welcome Jaime Fiorito for our next Phonica Friends and Family mix. Having been exposed to such a large vast knowledge of music through his father, the legendary Balearic don DJ Alfredo, Jaime from a young age was born to follow in his footsteps. His style of DJing which currently touches off leftfield house & techno, disco, African rhythms and seductive balearic have seen him touchdown at hot spots all over Ibiza, South America and Berlin’s Panorama Bar. All the cuts have been remastered from the original DATs pressed over two double LP's, many have never been reissued since the original release, and some have never been on wax at all. COLE MEDINA / LOVE ATHLETICS / SLEAZY MCQUEEN - We Call It Good 2 Me (WHISKEY DISCO)
Summer exits with a Whiskey Disco ode to summer parties. The A side showcases a long lost gem from Cole Medina that never quite saw the light of day. It’s a longtime honour to be able to put this song on the label and we can’t wait to have a loud 45 side in our hands to drop at the choicest of rooftop parties, poolside, beachside, or to break the tension after a dirty underground session. On the flip, we see Love Athletics breaking out with All of My Love, a cheeky vocal sample underpinned by a rocking bass groove and high hats that are more than a nod to S*x Shooter. The flanged groove will be perfect for day or night tie parties. Closing out, label boss, Sleazy McQueen provides an all analog cut up with palpitating drums and hypnotic grooves, with a nice surprise to break things up a bit.
