PrEP Awareness week starts tomorrow😍
PREP IS THE BEST WEAPON WE HAVE AGAINST HIV.
We reflect on the incredible turnout at this year's World AIDS Day RED RUN 2023 and we hope you all had fun celebrating our community 😊
Team 56 Dean Street proudly stood as ambassadors for our HIV, Sexual Health, and TransPlus Gender Services, an integral part of Chelsea and Westminster NHS FT Hospital. Our team, was joined by our remarkable Lead, Dr. Tara Suchak(pictured in the middle) and we all run together an incredible 10K Run to show our unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.
A heartfelt thank you to all those who ran in support of our services, celebrating another incredible year of the RED RUN. Though we couldn't personally meet each one of you, but in your running shoes, you embodied pride and you showed up for your community. There's no day quite like this, where diverse organisations and community members unite in a shared mission to serve and amplify our collective message.
The RED RUN stands as a testament to the unity within our community, a day where we stand together, celebrating victories against new HIV infections, advancements in the lives of those living with HIV, and, most significantly, the resounding message of U=U. Our journey has witnessed remarkable strides with improved HIV medications, the protective shield of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis), and an ongoing commitment to more effective interventions for all.
Together, we continue to champion progress, solidarity, and the power of community. Thank you for being the vibrant heartbeat of change and hope.

'5 July 2023 marks 75 years of the National Health Service.
Treating over a million people a day in England, the NHS touches all of our lives. When it was founded in 1948, the NHS was the first universal health system to be available to all, free at the point of delivery. Today, nine in 10 people agree that healthcare should be free of charge, more than four in five agree that care should be available to everyone, and that the NHS makes them most proud to be British.'
Thank you to all our staff and patients for supporting us, Let's make it another 75 years!

Our Story
Dean Street has a long history of providing sexual health services. The world’s first VD clinic for men was based at 91 Dean Street, London in 1862. Over the years our GUM clinic has had several different names and has been based in different parts of London. Originally we were part of the Westminster Hospital and were known as Outpatient 6. It was at the Westminster Hospital that Professor Brian Gazzard diagnosed one of Europe’s first cases of AIDS in 1981. He’s still working with us today.
In 1993, the Westminster Hospital moved to Fulham Road to become part of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Outpatient 6 relocated to Vincent Square and we changed our name to the Victoria Clinic. We’ve been known as ’56 Dean Street’ since we moved to Soho in March 2009.
We aim to deliver a world class HIV and sexual health service for all our patients by utilising the latest technology in a modern environment delivered by a warm and friendly team of staff.
We’ve always tried to be at the forefront of developing high quality services. In 2003, we were the first NHS service to offer rapid 60 second HIV results. On World AID’s day in 2011 we set the World Record for the most HIV tests performed in one location at G-A-Y Bar in Soho, inspiring the launch of national HIV testing week the following year. In 2014 we opened Dean Street Express, the first clinic in the world to have an on-site Infinity machine, allowing us to give results within 6 hours. In 2015 we opened the first NHS PrEP service selling Truvada through ‘NHS Additional care’, providing the monitoring for free. In Dec 2016 came the results we’ve fought for since we opened in Soho, a 40% drop in new HIV diagnosis at the clinic. We’re not going to stop there. We’re determined to end HIV transmission in London.
