Some of our consultants recently attended the third International Kids Knee Conference in Sheffield. The 2-day conference covered the treatment of paediatric and adolescent soft tissue knee injuries and disorders.

Over the weekend, Fortius Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine Dr Jo Larkin was involved in her third MLB London series event, where she was leading on the pre-hospital immediate care medical support for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets at London Stadium.

With the tennis season in full swing Fortius Consultant Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician Dr Mark Ridgewell has a busy few weeks ahead.

As the Major Events Doctor for the Lawn Tennis Association, Mark will be overseeing medical cover or providing direct care to the top WTA and ATP players at the UK grass court tennis tournaments including the Rothesay Classic in Birmingham, the Cinch Championships at Queens and the Rothesay International at Eastbourne.

Consultant Knee Surgeon Mr Andy Williams presented on Medial collateral ligament injuries and Meniscus injuries. Fortius Foot and Ankle Surgeon Professor James Calder and Consultant Radiologists Professor Rowena Johnson, Dr Justin Lee and Dr Adam Mitchell also spoke at the three day conference.

Fortius Director of Research, Effectiveness and Standards Mary Jones collected the KSSTA Best Paper Award 2022-2023 on behalf of Andy Willams and the co-authors of a paper on Factors affecting return to play and graft re-ruptures after primary ACL reconstruction in professional footballers.

Former Fortius foot and ankle research fellow and orthopaedic surgeon in Tokyo Mai Katakura won the Women in ESSKA Scholarship which supports female professionals committed to making impactful contributions to sports orthopaedics.
