🪄 He has cast a spell over the country for more than 20 years but the official Wizard of New Zealand has now been sacked! Ian Brackenbury Channell claimed he was “cancelled” after making unsavoury comments.

The 88-year-old Brit has been paid by Christchurch city council for the past two decades to promote the city through “acts of wizardry and other wizard-like services”.

He’s believed to be the world’s only state-appointed wizard, Brackenbury Channell has since been paid £8,220 a year by the council, including for appearances at public functions. He was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for services to the community in the 2009 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
