Any other eligible adults can get their free NHS flu vaccine from the beginning of October 2024. It might be later than usual, but it ensures the best protection 🛡️ when flu is most widespread.

What to do if you or someone else feels unwell:

If heat exhaustion isn't spotted and treated early on, there's a risk it could lead to heatstroke. Untreated heatstroke can be fatal. ⚠️

Seek help from a GP or contact NHS 111 📞 if someone is feeling unwell and shows symptoms of:
• Breathlessness 😮‍💨
• Chest pain 💔
• Confusion/dizziness 😵‍💫
• Intense thirst 🥵
• Weakness 😓
• Cramps which get worse or don't go away 🤕

Some medicines can make you more vulnerable to the heat. Discuss this with your pharmacist 💊

🚨❤️ Don't Ignore the Signs! Recognize the Symptoms of a Heart Attack ❤️🚨

Your heart health matters, and knowing the signs of a heart attack could save a life, maybe even your own! Here are some crucial symptoms to look out for:

1️⃣ Chest discomfort: This could feel like pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain in the centre of your chest that lasts more than a few minutes or comes and goes.

2️⃣ Pain or discomfort in other areas of the upper body: This could include one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.

3️⃣ Shortness of breath: Feeling out of breath, with or without chest discomfort.

If you or someone around you experiences these symptoms, don't hesitate – call emergency services immediately. Time is of the essence when it comes to treating a heart attack.

Remember, prevention is key! Keep up with regular check-ups, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and listen to your body.

UTI (or wee infection) symptoms usually include pain or burning when you p*e, needing to p*e more often especially at night, pain in your lower tummy or back, a high temperature or sometimes even a very low temperature. 🚽🔥

✅ Take paracetamol up to 4 times a day to reduce pain and high temperature

✅ Avoid having s*x until you feel better (you can’t pass on a UTI to a partner but it may be uncomfortable) 🚫❤️
❌ Don’t use scented soap 🧼🚫
❌ Don’t hold your p*e in if you feel the urge to go and try to empty your bladder completely 🚽💦
❌ Don’t wear tight, synthetic underwear 👙🚫
❌ Avoid alcohol and sugary food or drinks 🍷🍭🚫.

Always follow the instructions on the packet when taking medication.
Taking cystitis or cranberry products hasn't been clinically shown to ease UTI symptoms.

⚠️ The high pollen count coupled with the recent wet weather, followed by sun especially in a polluted area create a 'pollen bomb' which is hay fever sufferer's worst nightmare 🫣

The pollen count usually peaks in the late morning when particles rise with the warming air into the atmosphere, so it’s best to avoid walking outside at these times of the day ⛅️ Over the course of the day and by early evening, the pollen particles tend to fall back to nose level.
There isn’t a cure for hay fever, but you can try to prevent the worst of the problem with advice and treatment from our pharmacy. This may include anti-histamines, eyedrops or nasal sprays which work by reducing your body’s allergic reaction to pollen 💊

There are also some lifestyle changes you could try:
😎 Wearing wraparound sunglasses to prevent pollen getting into your eyes

Think you might have impetigo. Get treated at our pharmacy

Impetigo is a skin infection that's very contagious but not usually serious. It often gets better in 7 to 10 days if you get treatment. Anyone can get it, but it's very common in young children.

Check if you have impetigo:
Impetigo starts with red sores or blisters, but the redness may be harder to see in brown and black skin. The sores or blisters quickly burst and leave crusty, golden-brown patches.

The patches can:
- look a bit like cornflakes stuck to your skin
- get bigger
- spread to other parts of your body
- be itchy
- sometimes be painful

We can no provide the same treatments on the NHS as you'd get at the GP. So stop by the pharmacy for a quick consultation.
