'The international community is feeling uneasy about the future of the worldâs second-most populous continent. While this may be motivated by the good intention of preventing the contagion of the âcoup trapâ, the methods used are far from effective in bringing about meaningful changes to the region.' - Rafsi Albar
In our latest article, Rafsi Albar argues the ideal way of diplomacy with African military governments is to 'get past the demonisation of military regimes'. Only through negotiation can democracy be restored.

[Annual Anthology 2023 â Call for Articles]
Conflict and Contradiction: Navigating an Uncertain World
For this yearâs topic, we bear in mind the ramifications of conflicts in a post-Covid world. With a focus on states, institutions and corporations, weâre interested in how they react and interact in a world that appears increasingly multipolar, while accounting for the unique environmental, economic and political problems that affect each country over the past year. Considering the geopolitical climate, with key events such as Turkeyâs recent earthquake, the Northern Ireland Protocol, and climate injustice in the backdrop, to name a few - we wish to discuss conflict and confrontation: how do we address them in this changing geopolitical dynamic?
In addition to the examples above, some prospective topics include:
(1) Britainâs refugee boat crisis and why it holds importance in UKâs political discourse
(2) Ambiguities behind energy and gas procurement in the EU, post-Ukraine invasion
(3) Displacement from theatres of war in South Sudan, Ukraine, and Eritrea
You have full creative freedom! Features, op-eds, investigative reporting, and photo essays are all welcomed in the anthology. Please submit your contributions using the link in our bio. We look forward to reading your submissions!
Submissions ideally should not be more than 1,500 words. Please include a title and picture with source to your submission. Additionally, you are welcome to include a short biography and your photo to your submission.
