Upahaar's Bharatanatyam students from the South Croydon and East Croydon branches performed for ISKON's Rath Yathra Celebrations at Park Hill Park in Croydon and opposite Whitgift Centre on the central Croydon high street!

The Grade 4-5 group presented an Alarippu, Pushpanjali, Thillana and our Grade 2s presented a section of their exam dance including the Shantakaram shloka and a Swara Korvai.

Photographs from a day of Bharatanatyam Exams at Upahaar. Students from Croydon, Crawley, Twickenham and Sutton branches prepared very well in their classes and at The Upahaar Studio for their ISTD exams!

Upahaar's senior Bharatanatyam students from the Croydon and Sutton branches performed at the International Vedanta Society's Guru Poornima Celebrations at The Qing Liang Buddhist Associaton.

They presented a Thodayam, Mishra Alarippu and a piece on Lord Muruga - Villinai Othu.

We were extremely grateful to have our Guru Smt Shalini Shivashankar facilitated at this event on the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima as well!

Upahaar's Croydon and Sutton Bharatanatyam students recently preformed at Aerodome Primary Academy's Cultural Carnival.

Our junior and intermediate students presented their Grade 1 and 2 ISTD exam dances beautifully!

Upahaar's Bharatanatyam students from the Sutton and Croydon branches performed at The Belmont Fair in Sutton this weekend!

Our junior students performed a piece on Lord Vishnu - Dholayam, and senior students performed a traditional invocatory piece - Alarippu.

The dancers were greeted by the Mayor of Sutton and Belmont's community, as they participated in the parade and performed through the rain and sunshine!

We presented Varana Mukathone - a Ganesha Sthuthi, Chenjurutti Jathiswarm and a shloka - Shantakaram and a Navarasanjali in Mohiniyattam. A Natesha Kavuthuam, Alarippu and a piece on Lord Muruga - Villinai Otta were presented in Bharatanatyam. The two styles were then presented together in a Jugalbandhi for a Thillana in ragam Kathanakuthuhalam.

Upahaar's Bharatanatyam students: Guneeka, Rashmika, Debanshi and Diya performed a Pushpanjali, Alarippu and Jathiswaram, at a Ganesha Temple in Walthamstow.

Upahaar's Mohiniyattam students: Rani Shenoy, Smitha George and Niranshana Suresh performed three pieces, an offering to Ganesha followed by Cholkettu and a Jatiswaram, at a Ganesha Temple in Walthamstow.

Upahaar is happy to announce that recently 34 students completed their Bharatanatyam graded exams (ISTD), from which 80% secured Distinction and 20% Merit. A very good performance and result overall 👏🧡 Well done to all the students, teachers, teaching assistants and parents 🙏

The Upahaar Mohiniyattam senior students Rani Shenoy and Niranshana Suresh recently performed a pure dance as part of the Hindu New Year celebrations by Nepali, Srilankan and Indian communities at Sutton Library on May 12th!

Pallavi Anand, one of Upahaar's Bharatanatyam teachers, presented an Ashtapadi - Dheera Sameere for the Times of India World Dance Day Celebrations!
