Jury Announcement - José Francisco Neto, ABC - Senior Colourist & Founder, DOT

José Francisco Neto, ABC, is a senior colourist and the founder of DOT, a post-production company based in São Paulo. His work spans a wide range of projects, from short films and feature films to major episodic productions like Disney's "Aruna's Magic."

During his 30-year career, he has also served as a Post Production Supervisor and VFX Supervisor on various projects, which contributes to his unique perspective as a colourist. As an active member of the Associação Brasileira de Cinematografia (ABC), he is dedicated to disseminating knowledge and promoting industry development.

Jury Announcement - Tim Kuhn, Cinematographer, BVK

Tim Kuhn, BVK is an award-winning German DoP. His work includes the influential German TV Series 'Breaking Even' which won the German Cinematography Award, and the Amazon series 'Luden', also honoured by the German Cinematography Award as well as the German Television Award.

Colourists on his projects have twice won FilmLight Colour Awards - for 'Dear Mr. Führer' in 2022 and 'Luden' in 2023.

A pioneering technologist in the field of image development, Greg Fisher's recent work includes the Yorgos Lanthimos-directed 'Poor Things', and the upcoming 'The Book of Clarence', directed by Jeymes Samuel. He's also brought his keen eye and technical prowess to a wide variety of commercials for top directors and cinematographers for major global brands, including luxury, fashion and beauty campaigns and projects.

Masick won the Best Commercial Award at the FilmLight Colour Awards in 2021 (Dior Spring Summer 2021) and 2023 (Zara Man SS23). Jury Announcement - Birgit Gudjonsdottir, cinematographer

Cinematographer Birgit Gudjonsdottir has been filming commercials, documentaries, and fiction films since the late 1980s. She has worked on international productions such as "Goodbye Lenin," "The Bourne Supremacy," "Aeon Flux," "Beyond the Sea," and "The Three Musketeers." The first feature film she shot, "Jargo," premiered at the Berlinale in 2004.

Birgit has also been a lecturer at Germany's most prestigious film schools. She has received numerous awards, including Best Director of Photography for "Our Grand Despair" in 2011, the Cinematography Award from the Women's International Film and Television Showcase (WIFTS) in 2013, the Honorary Award 'Starker Einsatz' at the German Actor Awards in 2013, and the Honorary Award from the German Cinematography Award in 2018.

Jury 'Guest of Honour' Announcement - George Miller, Australian film director, screenwriter and producer

We are delighted to unveil that award-winning Australian filmmaker George Miller will be the FilmLight Colour Awards 2024 guest of honour, while Oscar-nominated cinematographer Mandy Walker will be 2024 jury president.

Jury Announcement - Catherine Goldschmidt, BSC – cinematographer

Catherine Goldschmidt, BSC is an Emmy and ASC award nominated cinematographer. With a background in shooting award-winning independent features and documentaries, Catherine was named a “Rising Star of Cinematography” by American Cinematographer Magazine for her work in episodic. Her TV credits include lead DP on the 12th Season of 'Doctor Who', the Emmy-nominated show 'Dummy' and the critically acclaimed BBC/Amazon original mini-series 'Chloe'.

She also shot a block on the last season of 'A Discovery of Witches' for Sky/AMC, as well as on HBO’s hit prequel series to 'Game of Thrones' – 'House of the Dragon', for which she was nominated for both the 2023 Emmy Award and the ASC Award for Outstanding Cinematography in a One Hour Television Drama.

Jason Zukowski is a senior colourist working at Fort York VFX in Toronto, Canada. He previously worked as a director of photography, editor, and director before finding his professional niche in the world of colour grading. The FilmLight Colour Awards are open to colourists using ANY grading system, with the winners celebrated at EnergaCAMERIMAGE in Poland in November.

In 2024, there are six categories: theatrical feature; television series/episodic; commercial; music video; Spotlight, which recognises colourists who have worked on a lower budget feature film or television movie; and, new for 2024, Emerging Talent, which celebrates the work of young colourists (age 18-35) in commercial and music video creation.

Jury Announcement - Avik Mukhopadhyay, cinematographer

Born in 1966, Avik graduated in Chemistry from Kolkata University, receiving a Diploma in Cinematography from FTII in 1993. Since then, he has worked with eminent directors including Mrinal Sen, Aparna Sen, Rituparna Ghosh, Shaad Ali, Shoojit Sarkar, Sujay Ghosh, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, and Madhuja Mukherjee.

He has received four National Film Awards for Best Cinematography, as well as twice winning the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer.

Jury Announcement - Marina Starke, senior colourist

Marina Starke is a Berlin-based colourist whose nuanced work spans international feature films, episodic series, commercials, and music videos. A five-time FilmLight Colour Awards nominee and the 2023 Music Video winner, her work has been recognised at Camerimage, Tribeca, and Berlinale. Notable projects include the Emmy-winning "The Empress" and "Zeit Verbrechen: Deine Brüder," winner of the 2024 German Cinematography Award.

Marina has crafted commercials for global brands like Mercedes, Nike, Sony, and Coach, earning AICP's Best Color Grading in Music Video in 2023. Self-taught in analog photography and Photoshop from the age of 14, her passion for film and color continued through media engineering studies and published research into the visual appearance of skin in motion pictures. With her intuitive artistic approach and keen eye for detail, she enjoys finessing every frame and finding its unique qualities.

Based in Berlin, she works from her own grading suite while collaborating with leading post-production facilities on feature projects for Apple TV+, Netflix, and others.

Michael Liu is a distinguished Chinese cinematographer with a career spanning two decades. He has developed a reputation for his innovative visual storytelling and his ability to blend traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern cinematic techniques.

Liu's portfolio includes a diverse array of films, from modern romantic comedies to grand sci-fi epics, earning him critical acclaim and many awards and nominations. Jury Announcement - Kaitlyn Battistelli, senior colorist and partner, Ethos Studio

Kaitlyn Battistelli is senior colorist and partner at Ethos Studio in Los Angeles. She is known for her fun and vibrantly hued films across a diverse range of platforms.

Kaitlyn’s work has earned her numerous awards and acclaim – she was named a Shots Rising Star in 2018, and claimed the Commercial Gold win at AICP in 2022 for New Balance x Casablanca. This past year she won a Bronze Ciclope for the colouring on the music video “Rainbow” by Jesse Rutherford. You can see her grade for the feature film “Dìdi,” which won the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival before being picked up by Focus Features, in theaters this summer.

Hou Yong is a professor at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, doctoral supervisor, first-class cinematographer, and the president of the Chinese Society of Cinematographers. His cinematography works include ‘The Horse Thief’, ‘The Blue Kite’, ‘The O***m War’ and ‘The Road Home’. His film directing works include ‘Jasmine Women’, ‘The One Man Olympics’ and ‘Hope Road’, while his TV directing works include series such as ‘The Great Revival’, ‘Eastern Battlefield’, ‘The Rebel Princess’ and others.

His works have won multiple awards, and Hou Yong has personally won Best Cinematography at the Golden Rooster Awards four times.
