Meet Alec, one of our free-range chicken farmers from rural Staffordshire, where farming is a family tradition spanning over a century. A fourth-generation chicken farmer, Alec's passion for farming stems from his love for the outdoors, the changing seasons, and caring for his animals. To him, sustainability and farming regeneratively to protect the land are paramount, ensuring a positive impact on both the land and the animals.
Transparency has been at the heart of everything we do since day one. We're firm believers in knowing exactly where your meat comes from.
And it all starts with our British farmers. We've forged relationships with free-range farmers who prioritise animal welfare, ensure livestock is raised in sync with nature's cycles and provide a lifestyle where they're given the space to express their natural behaviours freely.
We're incredibly privileged to partner with people who not only endorse our founding principles but believe in them wholeheartedly.
Is it just us, or as summer draws nearer, do you find yourself craving fresher flavours and brighter colours on your plate? Shop our free-range Duck Breasts to create our tangy and sweet Hoisin Duck on a bed of Pak Choi recipe. Pair with fluffy white rice for a balanced meal that is full of flavour.
Head to our stories for the full recipe.
Our fresh, free-range ducks spend majority of their lives outside roaming the grassy fields of the British countryside just south of the Somerset/Devon border. They're reared by husband and wife team, Chris and Hollie, the kids, and their duck dog Spot, who considers himself one of the flock. The family encourage the birds to live as natural a lifestyle as possible, with plenty of water to paddle and splash about in.
Our free-range Chicken Thighs, whether boneless or bone-in, offer rich, tender meat and a low waste option for eating in natural proportions. Try our chicken flatbreads recipe, seasoned in our signature rub for a delicious alfresco lunch or dinner now that warmer weather is on its way. Grill the thighs until ever so slightly charred and finish with a squeeze of lime juice.
Embracing a low-waste lifestyle isn't just about reducing packaging or recycling. It's also about practicing eating in natural proportion to ensure we are balancing and finding value in the whole animal. Take our chicken for example. Instead of just sticking to the popular chicken breast, consider incorporating thighs, drumsticks, and wings into your meals too 🍗 Not only does this approach reduce waste by utilising more parts of the animal, but it also celebrates the diversity of flavours and textures that each cut offers.

Today marks the start of Great British Beef Week 🙌 Now in its 14th year, this nationwide campaign is all about celebrating the phenomenal quality of British beef and highlighting our appreciation for British farmers and their commitment to environmental responsibility.
Did you know that greenhouse gas emissions from British beef are approximately half the global average? In terms of emissions, this places us among the most efficient beef producers worldwide.
The next time you’re weighing up the environmental impact of your food choices, remember to check the country of origin. Our grass-fed beef farms are worlds away from intensive feedlots. Great British Beef Week is the perfect time to thank our farmers for putting meat on our plates that we can trust.

Have you tried our Buffalo Mozzarella yet?
Made onsite at Buffalicious' West Country farm shop in Somerset, the mozzarella comes from their herd of around 250 water buffalo, slow reared and grass-fed on the family farm.
Water buffalo are an ancient breed of bovine animal untouched by modern alterations and thrive at their own pace. This means they're not fast grown or pressured to produce large volumes of milk at once. Instead, they produce lower volumes of milk that are of exceptional quality and rich in nutrients and flavour. A testament to centuries of heritage and care.
Pair our Cold Smoked Chalkstream Trout with lemon, seasonal salt baked asparagus and creamy hollandaise sauce for a perfect springtime brunch.
Our Member Exclusive range of premium cuts has been specially curated by expert butchers. Access to these cuts is just one of the many rewards we offer subscription customers as part of our loyalty scheme. Our Cold Smoked Chalkstream Trout was selected as part of this range for its meticulous process of being hand-filleted, trimmed and expertly cured. It's traditionally kiln smoked and matured in a Himalayan salt chamber, giving it a luxurious flavour.
Don't forget, our subscription boxes are flexible to suit you, with the option to pause or cancel anytime between orders. Head to the link in bio for the full recipe and learn more about subscription benefits.
Do you know the difference between trout and Chalkstream trout?
Unlike regular trout that live in various waters, Chalkstream trout thrive specifically in chalk streams, known for their clear waters that are rich in minerals. Our Chalkstream trout is sourced from the pristine waters of Hampshire's River Test and River Itchen and has a unique, clean taste that reflects its pure environment 🐟
High in protein, unsaturated fat, vitamin D and 12, it has a lot of health benefits. Have you tried Chalkstream Trout? Head to the link in bio to shop the range.
Master a new skill this spring. We’re back in the garden with a new butchery demo, and this time we’re butterflying a whole free-range chicken.
What demo would you like to see from us next?
We hope you all enjoyed your Easter orders as much as our Head of Operations, Jess, and her furry family did.
Here's a recap of some of our favourite photos you sent us over bank holiday weekend. What did you have for your Easter lunch?
Sheep and cattle farmer Tom Eames, on what it means to be a farmer: "Different farmers do things differently, but I guess I see it as we are the guardians of the countryside, and therefore we’re trying to take with one hand, improve it, and pass it on with the other."
Thank you to those of you who ordered lamb from us for Easter this year. Our sheep farmers help to form the backbone of our nation’s agricultural landscape and your orders directly support their work.
Spring has finally arrived. During our visit to Somerset, sheep farmer Clare Eames shared what she loves most about this season on the farm.
"As you watch the seasons change on the farm, it's great to go out and see what you've done. Spring especially is amazing, watching the re-growth and the animals growing. What I love about living here is I can take my dogs for a walk and not see anybody, but I see wildlife. I see deer, rabbits, hare, owls, all sorts."
What's your favourite part of spring time?
Fancy something different to lamb this Easter? We have plenty of delicious alternative centrepieces.
Indulge in our Bone Marrow Melt Sirloin Roast, salt-aged for 28 days on the bone in a Himalayan salt chamber, Free-Range Duck, and don't miss out on our exclusive Easter cuts that have been infused with seasonal wild foraged herbs, handpicked from the British countryside for a true taste of spring.
Easter bank holiday weekend is only a week away, so get your orders in by midnight tomorrow for delivery before Good Friday and celebrate the long weekend with the best meat and fish you can buy.
Did you know that spring lamb are only two to five months old when they are sent to slaughter? Despite its tenderness, this young age results in low welfare meat that lacks flavour.
To keep up with Easter demand, many retailers rely on imported lamb from other countries or push farmers to rear lamb out of season which isn’t in keeping with their natural cycle.
We take a different approach, sourcing our free-range lamb and mutton between 10-24 months from small-scale British farmers. All sheep have had at least one season at grass, giving our farmers the time they need to nurture their animals to full maturity.

The recent farmer protests across the UK and Europe call for a collective effort from consumers, governments, and businesses to address systemic issues that undermine the livelihoods of local producers who cultivate the land. Small-scale farmers are caught in a cycle of uncertainty, facing challenges such as cheap imports from overseas suppliers that threaten their financial stability. Supporting small-scale farmers, advocating for fair trade, and making environmentally conscious choices in where we are spending our money can all pave the way for a more equitable and sustainable future.

When it comes to eating beef, it’s all about conscious consumption. Contrary to common misconceptions, eating beef isn't inherently bad – it's about making informed decisions and knowing where your beef comes from 🐄
We’re proud to work with independent farmers who share our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. Supporting local livelihoods and commitment to responsible sourcing is at the heart of what we do and is how we ensure that our beef is the best you can buy. You should always be able to trace the journey of your beef, from pasture to plate.
We can’t think of a better cut to share on Valentine's Day than our Côte de Boeuf 🥩 A traditional slice of the rib of beef, we’ve removed the base and 'chine' bone to make for easy cooking and carving.
