We at Soul Brother reissued this fantastic 1971 Soul, Two Step and Rare Groove album on Record Store Day of 2017, and still have a few copies leftover. Dorothy Ashby’s incredible ‘Afro-Harping’ has arrived on reissue from Cadet Records! Originally released in 1968 as her first album on Chess, this classic is a beautiful mix of 60s cool grooves and orchestral jazz. Remastered from the original 1/4 tapes for the first time, ‘Afro-Harping’ is a Richard Evans production filled with hypnotic grooves that accompany Ashby’s delightful harp leading the band. It features some unreleased alternate takes and an 8-page booklet, all housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve LP. Here’s a further rundown of this soul-jazz masterpiece from Laurence himself. The mesmerising Willie Tee album ‘I’m Only A Man’, originally released in 1969, has just come in on reissue from Real Gone Music. This soul classic features cuts like ‘Bring On The Heartaches’, ‘I’m Only A Man’ and ‘Loneliness’; beautiful songs sung to perfection with sympathetic arrangements. ‘Walk Tall’ is another great late 60’s Soul song, and the jazzy big band tune ‘I’m Related To You’ is excellent. This limited edition is pressed on purple vinyl. Grab them while you can! Available in store and on the website.
