The Coach & Horses is a treasure of a pub in Mayfair Welcome to the Coach and Horses, one of the oldest surviving taverns in Mayfair.

Our Story
The Coach and Horses is one of the best-known British pub names. In London alone there are still over fifty Coach and Horses pubs. An excellent refuge from the nearby Bond Street shopping area. First licensed in 1738, it was rebuilt in 1933 and has an imposing mock-Tudor exterior. Inside, the pub is tiny and the atmosphere traditional, with wooden beams and panelling. Pictures on the walls feature caricatures of 19th-century politicians and clerics. Four handpumps include a changing series of guest ales. The small dining room with bar upstairs is available for private functions. The landlords of Coach and Horses pubs across Britain have been known to regale their customers with a rather different story. The story goes that an eighteenth century coach pulled along by four horses was driven by a ghostly figure. Those who witnessed the ghoulish happenings describe that as the coach came closer, the driver was headless! If this did not whet the appetite of ghost story enthusiasts, it was also described that the passengers of this supernatural coach were staring through the windows with their skull like faces!
