Over the last few weeks, we have been looking back at some of our favourite projects from the last 20 years.
From ground breaking podcasts to developing the biggest specialist shows in the world - it’s been quite a journey and it genuinely feels like we are just getting started.
We wanted to take this moment to thank all the incredible artists and brands we’ve worked with and their teams, the hundreds of radio stations and online platforms who air our programming week in week out and of course all the incredibly talented producers, graphic artists, sound designers and creatives we couldn’t be without.
Special thanks to past members of our team including John Askew and Zak Frost.
Lots of news to come on new projects for 2024 - please check the next post for all our current projects - stay tuned 😉
In 2021 we launched the Global Residency. For many years there were artists we wanted to work with who couldn’t commit to an ongoing weekly show and also new artists we were passionate about and wanted to help them breakthrough.
So far, we’ve run 2 seasons which have included ABSOLUTE, Shimza, DJ Seinfeld, Pendulum, DJ Paulette and more.
Highlights include Real Lies and their UNREAL radio format - produced by the band themselves - we promise it’s some of the best radio content in recent times. DJ Paulette who currently features her Global Residency mixes on Apple Music.
Meanwhile, Shimza is our first Global Residency artist who has taken over the concept completely for the next 2 months before beginning his brand new weekly show in March - more news to follow on that soon.
Despite all the restrictions in place, 2020 was a busy year for us.
We have always said having a globally syndicated radio show is important to any travelling artist as it builds and maintains a fan base, especially in areas that they may only get to visit once a year - if at all.
A global pandemic meant artists were grounded but their radio shows continued - all of them growing audiences - whether that was on traditional radio or via fan subscriptions on platforms such as Mixcloud Select.
During this time we launched 4 shows including DJ EZ’s NUVOLVE, Musical Freedom, Jamie Jones’s Hot Robot Radio and Amelie Lens’ Exhale Radio.
In 2019 we developed the Conversations with Susie Pearl podcast. The acclaimed series featured guests including KT Tunstall, Jasmine Hemsley, Ricki Lake and to launch, Susie welcomed David Lynch to discuss creativity, meditation and so much more. We highly recommend you add every episode to your listening list if you missed them first time around.
Listen across Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
This month Nicole Moudaber celebrated her 500th episode of In the MOOD.
Since the show launched it’s won numerous awards including Mix show of the year and Best Presenter - it now airs in over 45 countries.
Aside from the weekly show, In the MOOD has broadcast landmark episodes live including multiple consecutive years from Miami Music Week and the International Music Summit in Ibiza.
The Ibiza broadcast was co-presented by Skin during the 2019 edition of IMS and featured some very familiar faces from the radio world.
In the MOOD Live will return in 2024 - stay tuned!
2017-2018
Taking over the reigns from Carl Cox was Eats Everything and Gorgon City.
Whilst Eats was already a familiar voice on radio - Gorgon City were relatively newcomers to the airwaves.
We developed KINGDOM radio to introduce the already chart topping band as DJs to radio stations and fans all over. This was a world first - the duo were the first signed band in the world to have a syndicated radio show.
Also around this time we partnered with Joris Voorn on Spectrum radio, who recently celebrated the brand with a live episode broadcast from Amsterdam Dance Event.
More memories from various live broadcasts around the world including Drumcode Live from Awakenings Festival 2014 and Carl Cox Global live at Space Ibiza.

2013-2014 saw the launch of 3 further shows - all of which continue to air to this day
Club Life by Tiesto, UMF Radio from Ultra Music Festival and Nicole Moudaber's in the MOOD.
We saw an opportunity for festivals to have their own radio shows and there was no brand we wanted to work with more than Ultra Music Festival. Their show, hosted by Andy Pate has won multiple awards and airs on over 120 major FM and Digital radio networks.
Meanwhile Nicole Moudaber's In the MOOD has become a staple on radio schedules all over the world. It too has won multiple awards including 'Mix Show Of The Year' and 'Best Presenter' and continues to grow every single month.
Finally Club Life by Tiesto is one of the world's most syndicated and listened to dance music shows - now airing on over 165 major radio platforms worldwide.
Live broadcasts play a major part in the work we do.
Whilst our weekly content is pre-recorded, on site broadcasts allow our roster to connect deeply with their audience around the world and offer fans a truly live experience for those attending.
We build fully-fledged pop-up radio studios at locations all over the world and our annual series of broadcasts from Miami are the best example of this. Over the years we’ve broadcast live to over 50 countries on FM radio - all from pool parties, luxury yachts sailing the Miami causeways and backstage at music festivals.
October 2012.
Carl Cox’s Global remains one of the proudest projects we’ve ever worked on running from 2003-2017.
Carl celebrated his 500th episode by hosting a party during the Amsterdam Dance Event at the legendary Gashoulder with Awakenings.
We built a radio studio on site and Carl along with co-host Charlie Hedges hosted a very special 8-hour broadcast that went live to FM stations all over the world.
The Radio Department also produced a short film on the event.
The intro sequence, seen here — includes the now iconic show opener to the weekly show featuring Vika Kova that was also used as an opener for Carl’s club sets for many years.
CR2 Live & Direct with Mark Brown and Sander van Doorn's Identity both enjoyed nearly a decade of successful runs.
Meanwhile, Planet Perfecto with Paul Oakenfold and Adam Beyer's Drumcode Live continue to thrive, each boasting a growing audience.
When Drumcode Live first launched, Adam Beyer's uncompromising style of Techno was a rarity on international radio stations. Since its inception, the show has paved the way for numerous other DJs to follow in Adam's footsteps. It remains the most listened-to techno radio show, solidifying Drumcode itself as one of the world's most respected and prominent dance music brands.
Continuing our look back on some of our favourite past projects from the last 20 years - 2008-2009 saw the launch of a syndicated chart show for Beatport - ‘The Beatport 20’ and also the F*** Me I’m Famous radio show from David Guetta.
In our search for a major house music show, the opportunity to collaborate with David Guetta, a DJ we were huge fans of, was particularly exciting. Little did we know that this project would precede his mainstream breakthrough with the chart-topping track 'When Love Takes Over' a year later. David went on to secure his position as the world's number 1 DJ, a title he has once again earned this week. Congratulations to David for this well-deserved recognition.
We don’t miss the days before broadband when we had to produce a month’s worth of radio shows in advance, burn them in real time on CD, send them to be duplicated and then courier them around the world!
Our original website and first logo.
Strong brand design has always been at the heart of what we do. We’ve always believed radio has to look as good as it sounds.
In December, we celebrate our 20th anniversary so we've decided to take a stroll down memory lane by opening our archives to revisit some of our favourite moments from the last two decades.
The Radio Department was launched in 2003 by some of the team that had previously launched radio stations for Ministry of Sound, TrusttheDJ, and branded radio stations for MTV and Rimmel Cosmetics.
From our earlier projects, we recognised a significant opportunity for DJs to host radio shows worldwide, a concept that was relatively unexplored at the time. Today, it's common for DJs to have their own radio shows in some form.
We initially started with two shows.
Our first show was "Carl Cox Global," which ran for an impressive 14 years and played a pivotal role in revolutionising electronic music on radio stations across the globe. Carl Cox became the first to have a syndicated radio show, airing in over 100 countries by the time the project concluded.
Our second show was "Transitions with John Digweed." We are proud that the show continues to air, still growing audiences every week and celebrates its 1000th episode this month.
