When sensei @raphael_verasktd took the bold decision to move from Brazil, to what he now classes as his home - London; Sensei Raphael worked tirelessly to build Veras Academy so he could share his love and passion for martial arts, but most importantly - KARATE!
Over the years, sensei Raphael and Veras Academy have supported, guided and honed the skills of karate-kas. We, as a club, have seen a tremendous amount of success on the podium’s over the years; including being the home of some of the finest young athletes (including world champions, European champions and so forth). Without sensei Raphael, none of it would’ve been possible.
Sensei Raphael’s passion for karate is clearly evident as he continues to support some of the world’s best karate athletes while acting as Luxembourg’s National Karate Coach. The passion and love for martial arts, his belief in tradition and discipline, can be seen by athletes, students and parents alike - although based in Luxembourg, his heart will always belong to London and most importantly, to Veras Academy.

Wankan is a kata practiced in many styles of Karate. Not much is known about the history of this kata. It originates from the Tomari-te school and in modern karate is practiced in Shorin-ryu, Sh*to-ryu, Shotokan, Genseiryu and Matsubayashi-ryu.
