Nice quiet Friday ride over Warden hills

Bring your own horse (£25) or borrow one of ours. Mostly walk with short trots.

Own horses are welcome to join us. Or borrow one of ours.

Thursday Fast ride will head out around the Lilley/Pegsdon bridleways and will include some open fields- around 2 hours of riding

Our steady option on Friday will be approx 90 mins around the Warden & Galley hills, mostly tracks and bridleways, grass and chalk.

Guided pub ride

Pub ride route.
This took approx 2 hours including a drink stop at the pub. Bring a headcollar & rope along as the Lilley arms has a hitching post outside. Turn right out of parking field along the lane and join the bridleway at dogwalkers car park. Continue along behind the houses then as it opens up there's a nice green uphill stretch for a canter. Photo 1. Turn left at x roads and proceed uphill to the top of Warden Hills and pause to appreciate the view (photo 2) before decending the other side of hill on chalk track. At the x roads take the right turn to Lilley which is a byway and the pub is straight at the end of this.
On the return route, we went straight at the x roads then took the next left turn on the greenstretch. There's a long uphill track then a narrow downhill between the hills taking you past the golf club ⛳️ at the bottom. Take a left at the bottom onto icknield way and then after a short distance take the 2nd gap in the hedge to exit the bridleway. Sunshine Riding School will be opposite. Turn left and along the lane and parking field is the next gateway on your right.

Leave the yard 10am from Sun 9th June.

Alternate Friday evenings 5.30 from 14th June.

Parking field is OPEN, the sun is shining 🌞 and the tracks are green. Come and join us for a park & Ride around the stunning Warden Hills

This is a nice circular one to do. We call this route 'long canter' as that's exactly what you get. 😃 just under 6k and takes approx 60min
▪︎From Sunshine Riding School main carpark turn left onto icknield way towards the golf club.
▪︎ turn right at first x roads and follow bridleway to the top of hill (there may be cows in field along side) and over the other side. There's a decent long trot here where it flattens out.
▪︎turn right on the 'green stretch' which brings you to the Lilley x roads. Take the left fork at x roads and this is a long canter stretch. Approx 0.5km
▪︎ this brings you out on the icknield way on a grassy stretch. Take the left and we had another nice shorter canter back towards the golf course. (See photo)
▪︎Continue along stony section of the Icknield way until returning to the golfclub/sunshine carpark.
▪︎Alternatively take the right turn at x roads at the start of woods 🌳🌲 and extend your ride on the 'pylons' route. Couple nice green tracks on 3 sides of a square which will join back onto the icknield way a little further down... turn right onto the stony track and continue as the previous point.

Meeting the cows and the view of the golf course ⛳️ and Luton Town from the top of the hill today.
These ladies are quite heavily pregnant and will be moving home soon for calving. The cattle graze down the grass of the Area of outstanding natural beauty

Our parking field is looking dry enough to park your boxes in again if you want to make the most of your half term and enjoy some safe off road hacking. Direct access to miles of bridleways/ hillwork and grass tracks.

Nice little figure 8 route today with a couple of uphill canters
Park and ride is still very much open with plenty of woodchip down in gateway to our parking field.

1 full loop around the hills today was almost exactly 1 hour. With a good mix of hill work and a couple of nice grassy canter tracks.
