Vitamin A (aka retinol and other retinoids) explained! Part 4- the retinisation period! (Got cut off at the end! Read caption for full info) When you first start using vitmain A or you go up in strength your skin can go through a retinisation period which can last up to two months- your skin can be dry, red, flaky, Itchy- this is not a reaction! It is your skin adjusting to the increase in cell turnover. Heres what you can do to help; Check you're not applying too much product. 💫Use the product less frequently (extend your phasing in) 💫Check you are using the correct strength. 💫Increase your hydration products- add in a serum or more nourishing moisturiser. 💫Reduce other actives such as AHA's and BHA's until retinisation has calmed down and then gradually re introduce. Your skin can also have a purge if you are prone to breakouts. Again this is due to the cell turnover increasing and any underlying blockages in the skin coming out a lot quicker than it normally would (it wouldn't cause anything that wasn't going to come out in time anyway). Your skin will usually be a lot clearer after a month or two. #librabeauty #medik8 #vitamina
